| Coprophogia - vitamin b, probiotics, pineapple I have a three year old yorkie that weighs about three pounds. I can't get her to stop eating her poop which has caused her a lot of gi issues (bloody diarrhea, vomiting). I read that I should try adding vitamin b complex, probiotics (dr becker) and fresh pineapple. I started by adding probiotics, then a week later added vitamin b complex, next week I would like to add pineapple. I'm adding each one a week at a time because of her sensitive belly. I would eventually like to add coconut oil as well. To help with her allergies and itchy skin. I'm just wondering if I'm adding too much. She eats canine caviar about 1/4 to 1/3 cup broken up into two meals a day. I've been trying to feed on a schedule so hopefully I can develop a pooping schedule but its not working out too well. I feed at 9am and 6pm but that has caused her to poop at 9 am , 1pm, and about 3am. I can't always be here for the 1pm. So I'm going to try feeding her three times a day again because I fed three times a day she was atleast going about an hour before each meal. I've tried forbid, canned pineapple (for three weeks and gave a chunk with each meal), canned pumpkin, probiotics, etc and nothing has worked. All three vets she's been to seem to think ibd and food allergies are the cause of her gi issues (after many tests, exploratory surgery, bioposy). She vomited and had diarrhea a lot until canine caviar and probiotics so now she only gets sick when eating her poop. Plus she has horrible separation anxiety since I've had to be with her almost all the time to prevent poop eating. The anxiety causes her to vomit and diarrhea as well. Just wondering what has worked for other people and if I am adding to many things to her meals. Thanks |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My Wylie did that his first year, when we used to feed kibble. Since a lot of ingreds in kibble remain undigested, they come out the other end still somewhat intact...meaning, still smelling like food and tasting like food. We used S.E.P. - "Stop Eating Poop", by Solid Gold - you can get it at Amazon: Amazon.com: Solid Gold S.E.P. (Stop Eating Poop)... It pretty much did the trick right away. It doesn't work for everyone, but it sure worked for us. Also, you might consider feeding raw - either freeze dried or frozen raw. With raw foods, the poos are very small, dry, and non smelly - apparently bc the foods are actually all digested properly. I feed mostly the Primal brand, but also there is Natures Variety, Stella and Chewys, Bravo, Stewarts etc. I find that Primal's duck flavor is a really clean flavor for the dogs (meaning, it all gets digested, not just passed thru).
