Donating YT 3000 Club Member | I am sorry. I do not have that problem. But if you feel that the vet is not doings enough I would take her to another vet. Or an allergist.

Benadryl is usually the 1st line of antihistamines that a vet will suggest to try. The protocol is to try an antihist for at least 10 days before judging its efficacy. If not effective, then you move to either Claritin or Zyrtec (generic is fine) and assess one of those, and so on. But if these OTC meds don't work, then your vet should offer you prescription level meds. Perhaps Atopica (I like this one), Temaril P, steroids (I like this only if it's seasonal...not year 'round), or allergy testing followed by shots. What the pollens doing in your area? I get emails every day from pollen.com so that I can see what's in the air and compare that to my dogs' symptoms. That way, I can begin to predict what times of year are worse than others and prepare/treat for it.

| So I've been sitting here at work (Friday afternoon waiting for a snowstorm - YorkieTalk it is) looking for topics on this wheezing thing. Good to know about the benadryl - I'll try this. Thanks! |

| It is possible that this is asthma.. But asthma is not that common in dogs. Your dog should have an xray taken and your vet may have a better idea of what medicines can help. |
