| Days & Nights mixed up! Hi everyone. I really hate to bring this up as I'm not sure if it's Princess Sophie's problem or mine! Sophie has her days and nights mixed up. She's now 13 weeks old (I had miscounted her age previously) and when we first brought her home, she was sleeping 8 hours each night. Now however, she's up every 2 hours to pee throughout the night. I don't want to hurt her by trying to keep her awake longer during the day as she is still so very young but I would like some advice on whether or not I can encourage her to stay up more during the day to encourage her to sleep longer during the night? I don't work outside the home so it's not like I have a job on the line or anything like that, I'd just like to get some more sleep. We are free feeding her and giving her a treat each time she goes potty on her pad and this morning (2 am), I was actually thinking she may be waking herself because she knows when she goes potty she gets a treat however I think that idea is a bit wacky as now I am sleep deprived and Sophie is just dozing. LOL I'm not at my wits end but wondering if anyone can offer some good advice and if there is anything I can do to help change this?? P.S. I cannot sleep during the day so trying to nap when she naps is out of the question. LOL

| Night owl I wonder if Sophie may have a bladder infection as she did not always do this. Also does she pee so much in the day? Hope this is resolved soon so you all can get some sleep! |

When she pees, she only goes a little bit so I am wondering about a UTI as well. During the day, she is sleeping so much and she doesn't get up to pee as much. I have her in a play pen during the day when she wants to sleep and she does play quite a bit so I'm not sure what is going on. I will be sure to share this info with our vet tomorrow. Thanks so much!!

YT 2000 Club Member | I won't be much help as Teeka has slept through the night since the 2nd night home. I take it you work and she is sleeping the day away while you are gone. Does she play a lot when you get home? Maybe she is not getting enough exercise to make her tired.

YT 2000 Club Member | Sorry, I misread your first post! You are home during the day!!!! I would check with the vet as to why she is waking to go potty at night!

| my 1 year old goes every couple hours during the day and can hold it a good 8 at night. When we first got her she was up every night at 3am peeing pooping and barking. She still barks when she pees or poops at night to let me know (usually 5 or 6 am, which is tough on weekends!) Im not sure how it works with one so young but try to get as much water in her during the day and less at night perhaps? Also I found putting a shirt in her bed with my scent seem to help her sleep longer Make sure you take it out during the day though! lol |

| Night owl Thanks for the update, glad you are seeing the vet re this. Lets hope she is just a light sleeper and drinks too much before going to bed. Perhaps you could just keep her in the dark all day and light all night. Just kidding! Good Luck! |

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | My Jersey is 8mths now...sleeps through the night. I got her at 11wks and 3lbs...I started off leaving water out at all times, as she got older I started removing water at around 8pm....if she got thirsty I gave her an ice cube...quenched her thirst but didn't fill her bladder...worked like a charm for me. Maybe try that..see if it helps as well as the vet visit. Hopefully its nothing serious. Keep us posted please.

| It doesn't seem that unusual for a puppy, but you must be exhausted. If you suspect a UTI, I'd bring a urine sample with me to the vet. I put a paper plate under Katie to collect the urine. She outsmarted me the first couple of times, but eventually I got the sample. I then transferred the urine to a container. You could also use a pee pad to collect the urine. Princess Sophie sounds so precious, and she's a beautiful little girl.

| Hi Everyone! We are back from seeing the Vet this morning and this is an update from my post yesterday. There was not any urine for them to try to get a specimen from but after describing what was happening with having to get up every 1 - 2 hours at night, and her peeing very little, they have prescribed an antibiotic to give her twice a day. Clavamox is the drug and it is in liquid form. Now, if she only liked it! LOL Vet did say that we should see some results from this in one to two days (nights) and I have enough med to give her till our next appointment in 4 weeks at which time they will want to test. Oh yes, also, Princess Sophie 1/4'd her weight from what she weighed at her last appointment so now she weighs 2 lbs. 9 oz. I told them she was eating like a little piggy. Everything else is fine but they want me to update them in a couple days to let them know if we are getting any sleep yet. I anticipate that they will call me before I get the chance to call them. LOL I love our Vet and Techs!!!
