Sprained front leg Poor little Bilbo has a sprained front leg from playing too hard with his best friend Buffy. It's swollen between the ankle and the knee. The vet said to keep him off it, and to give him aspirin. It doesn't seem to bother him, but it does bother me. I am wondering if wrapping or compresses would help reduce the swelling. Bilbo will be four February 23, and weighs nine pounds. He's not fat, just a non-standard size. Any suggestions would be welcome.

You can soak it in epsom salts & then ice it for a few minutes a couple of times a day & just make him rest it for a few days. Last edited by lillymae; 02-21-2013 at 09:34 PM.

Yes, this seems to be the "BEW" method of dealing with a sprain and a swollen appendage....alternating heat, and then cold, then heat, then cold, .......I HATE the cold part....it NEVER has made anything I ever injured feel one bit better....I always liked the heat part....but orthos are alternating now.....
