| Zignature Dog Food I love the looks of this food.. I am sending for some samples. My 2 little ones are currently working on a 12 lb bag of Canine Caviar Lamb & Pearl Millet.. I am considering switching to Zignature as they are similar to CC but they offer a Lamb formula without grains... Here is the link : ZignatureŽ Your Pet's Signature Dish for Life! |

| This food has too much legumes...legumes highers their pH level (veggies & fruits are alkaline & highers the pH), dog's should have a slightly acidic level (protein from meats are acidic). In other words, the protein comes mainly from other sources other than meat. They are splitting ingredients to push the meat ingredient higher up on the ingredient list. Ingredient Splitting -- The Pet Food Industry's Dirty Little Secret For example, I'm looking @ turkey formula, it has turkey, turkey meal (ingredient splitting to make it look like there's a lot of turkey in there, but in fact is not true) & then followed by peas, pea flour, chickpeas & followed by pea protein (too many legumes, along w/ingredient splitting to push the turkey higher up the list but in fact, there are very high amounts of peas/ legumes in this food). I think dried beet pulp is also another plant source protein...but a good fiber. More & more, these new companies are coming up w/'grain free', 'low glycemic index'...3 of my guys has a high pH & 2 of them have struvite crystals. I don't think the crystals are caused by their food, but their high pH is. It's imperative that I keep their pH levels down since they have crystals, otherwise they'll develop stones. I was able to get Momo's pH down a little to normal range, he was on prescription Hill's C/D (urinary tract health), it has no legumes, veggies or fruits. But it has corn & soy. Go figure, I thought I'd never feed them anything w/animal by-products in it either loll! Of course, every dog is different.

| I believe everyone has to just go with what they believe is best for their pups. Good luck with whatever you choose.

| You weren't stepping on my toes. I just meant that she should try what she thought was best. Everyone has different opinions. I didn't mean anything by it at all. Sorry if I sounded like it.

| Oh Wanda- hopefully they do well on the food. I agree it does have a lot of "peas" Peanut doesn't do well on Peas or Flaxseed. How come you are looking into another brand? Is CC not working for your gang?

oscar was eating the CC Wilderness (Venison) for a few weeks and still itching like crazy.. so the next bag i bought the Lamb & Pearl Millet & in just a week his itching is getting less and less.. so i am thinking that Lamb is the best choice for him but i don't care for the grain for long term so i did some research and found the Zignature.. I like the fact that it is a limited ingredient Lamb kibble but no grains, potato, or gluten.. I am not worried about the peas... | |
