| DE for Fleas Hi new here and saw the thread which is very old so I am restarting it. How many of you are using diatemeacous earth for flea control? Do you use anything else with it? How much can you put on 5 week old puppies and how long does it take to kill all the fleas? |

| I have not tried DE, but I read a couple of things that concern me about it. If I understand correctly, it has to be applied frequently and it is not good for animals or humans to inhale -- that it is a potential carcinogen. I'm not sure how inhaling it can be avoided when applying it or afterward. Tiny dust particles float through the air, much of which is probably invisible to the naked eye. Something to research and consider. ETA: it is pure silica....which is not good to inhale.

| i have only ever used it for a natrual remedy for internal parasites.. DE is very dusty and it is harmful to breathe it in , it is also very drying to the skin and it can be very bad for your eyes as well.. one time only did i try it in the house to control crawling insects but it was so dusty it was awful , i vaccumed it up and opened all the windows... i personally would never put it directly on my pets... |
