| Yorkies Shedding We have 2 4yr old yorkies that shed to a degree I would call excessive. This is not seasonal or periodic. We had a yorkie in the past that shed very little and wanted yorkies in the first place because of the lack of shedding that we observed with friends who have yorkies. I would appreciate some advice on this. Thanks. |

YT 2000 Club Member | I don't have any advice! I have never heard of a yorkie shedding excessively. I have had yorkies for a little over 10 years and mine don't shed or loose much hair at all! Could it be the dog food?

| Hi and Welcome to YT! Yorkies don't shed. I think a vet check would be in order as certain conditions can cause hair loss.

| I have two yorkies- Ziva "sheds" a little, her coat is silky ,fine and very wavy (curly) I sometimes think some of the shedding is breakage because it is so fine. Abby has straight, silky hair, Never sheds at all! |

| Yorkies do not shed so you might want to have the vet do a check up

| Not trying to be nit-picky here, but it's a fallacy to say yorkies do not shed. All animals with hair/fur shed to some extent, including humans. While yorkies do not shed excessively as some other dog breeds do, they do lose hair, just like we do. Look in your own hair brush each week and see how much you lose...expect your yorkie to lose a similar amount. Of course, excessive hair loss should be a concern & looked into medically (just like with humans).

| Only one dog doesn't shed and that's a hairless dog.... Noah sheds (or loses hair) more than Allie and Westley but I wouldnt say it's excessive. I do find hair on the floor, especially near the potty pad area.
