| Supplements that YOU add to your pup's diet? I've read several posts on here about people adding such things as coconut oil, omega-3s, probiotics, etc. Just curious if I could get everyone's individual responses in one place For me, right now, I just add coconut oil to her food and even brush her teeth with it (which she loves so much more than toothpaste). I'm trying to figure out what else I should be adding (suggestions based on your experiences)..? For example, I've seen milk thistle stated around the forum...anything like that...what do YOU use to supplement your yorkie's daily diet? Thanks in advance!

| I used to add coconut oil too! We currently give Toki a full pump of the Grizzly Salmon oil with breakfast along with 1/2 a Dasuquin tablet daily. Nothing fancy here! |

| Currently I give 1 squirt of Dr Mecolas krill oil, 1/2 scoop of his probiotics and 1 scoop of his enzymes for dogs to my 5 month old, Beckham 's raw meal at dinner time. I thinking am going to order the spiruina also and I read where I need to be giving vitamin E also...I'm still working out all this "raw feeding " stuff.... |

| Not really anything. I do sprinkle some Proden Plaqueoff on his food a few times a week, mainly because I have it, and didn't want it to go to waste. No idea if it's actually helping control any plaque or whatnot. I do have some coconut oil but I probably don't use it enough to have any benefits. Occasionally, I'll put a little scoop in his kibble, or use it on a toothbrush, but I just honestly always forget about it. I've used it topically a few times for a scab and whatnot. He seems to do well enough on the food that he's on for now. Oh and I do give some treats that have glucosamine in it, but his legs are in top shape, so it's more of a treat/possible preventative thing more than anything.

| I home-cook for Tatiana. To her food, I add coconut oil, fish oil, multi-vitamin powder, another powder for joint health, calcium powder, and Kocci Free. It sounds like a lot. Some of the supplements cure certain conditions she had (dry, itchy skin, sensitive tummy, etc.). Other supplements are for preventative measures and to fill any nutritional gaps. |

| IMO if you feed quality food and your dog isn't suffering from any ailment you are fine. Theres such a thing as to much and it just goes out in there waste just like when we take to many vitamins. JMO |

YT 2000 Club Member | What is the benefit of coconut oil? I give Teeka a vitamin-mineral supplement called Pet-Tabs daily. It was recommended by her Breeder. She gets 1/4 tablet a day. I am also starting flax seed oil as she is itching a lot.

| It's a joint supplement so I'm assuming it is most commonly used for older dogs with arthritis however it is also used for any age of dog with joint issues. Toki has been taking this since she was 10 months old (?around then) which my vet recommended when Toki was diagnosed with Legg-Perthes and a luxating patella as well. |

^ We used to give this brand of coconut oil to Toki mostly for the skin/coat benefits but I switched over to salmon oil which is also supposed to be good for skin/coat as well as joint health. | |

I add 1/2 Dasuquin tablet to 2 of my seniors....and I just noticed Boss may be having some arthritis in his get up and go, so I have started him on Cosequin daily, sprinkled over his meal. |

| I give Emy 1 scoop Dr. Mercola's Digestive Enzymes per day, and 1/2 a chewable of Great Life Arthro-Aid. She is only 9 months old, but I want to keep her joints healthy. |

| I put probiotics on everyones food, altho I've been cutting back since their food (Earthborn Holistics) seems to have enough. Ziva(3 years) gets cosequin- I have seen an amazing difference in the past 6 weeks with her luxating patella. She is also on a few grains of proin a day because of her sleep leaking urine problem- I have been researching natural (sawpalmetto?) products... |

| Thank you for all the replies. That helps a lot. I think I will start adding a probiotic and the milk thistle then. If Mandie starts having any issues with her joints, I'll bookmark this thread for the other suggestions here. Yorkiemom1 - the milk thistle is for liver function, right?

| My mom always told me to take milk thistle before any meds, like ibuprofen because it blocks the stuff from going through your liver, something like that, LOL but I never thought dogs could take it |
