| Stinky breath! Chewie's breath is so bad, not just normal puppy breath, but yucky yucky breath. Its so bad sometimes i don't want him close to me even if he is on the couch beside me chewing on his teddy bear, i can smell it :S any tips or tricks?

| Do you brush Chewy's teeth? I brush Zoe's every night after I brush mine and she has never had bad breath, I don't mind her licking me all over because of that. You didn't mention how old Chewy is, but is it possible there is some tooth decay or gum disease? I would certainly take Chewy to the vet to ensure there isn't something wrong, and would also start brushing those teeth. Zoe doesn't love it and tries to hide when I tell her to get her teeth brushed, but she tolerates it and I know it's good for her so we do it anyway. |

| I have no advice for you as Brandi's breath has no odor but then again she doesn't have any teeth. I agree with the above poster, make sure to rule out any health issues first. |

| Hi there...how old is your little one? When puppies start to loose their teeth their breath smells very bad. One trick I was told when my puppy was teething and his teeth smelled bad was to give him frozen apple pieces. (peeled of course) |

| also if you cannot get chewie to let you brush his teeth then try tropiclean tooth cleaning gel...i might be off on the name but its a green colored gel and i know its by tropiclean. it works great and has made lolas breath better plus removed her tartar cause she wont allowe a toothbrush near her.

He is 10 months, but i think that he is retaining his baby teeth . I just recently bought a toothbrush and it is a complete nightmare :/ would retained baby teeth cause bad breath? i give him apples, carrots, and dental chews, nothing helps!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Retained baby teeth can cause bad breath because they are crowded in with adult teeth and food can get stuck in between the rows of teeth. Rotting food stinks. Most of us have the baby teeth pulled during neutering, few Yorkies lose all their baby teeth on their own.

| I just had Wallee neutered 2 weeks ago and he had one retained molar that was covered in plaque and smelly. The vet pulled it out for him and now he doesn't have that smell. |
