| Feeding a yorkie Does anyone here feed their dog many kinds of dog food ? Then for example, raw, wet, and dry . I think it's better for the dog, since there isn't much about good kibbles here in Iceland (only Orijen but I can't afford it and I don't like feeding only dry, I think it is bad for them nutrition-wise). I feed ready frozen raw dog food called Hundahreysti (Icelandic), sometimes beef and lamb from our left overs (most often raw), sometimes Natures Menu wet food, and Regal dry food. For example this is a normal week for the dogs feeding times: Monday: Dry food Tuesday: Dry food/Wet food with fla Wednesday: Dry food Thursday: Raw food Friday: Dry food/raw food Saturday: Dry food/Leftover meat and veggies Sunday: Wet food Etc.. This is just an example Sometimes they only eat dry for 2 weeks then raw for 1 week etc., just what I feel like giving them, they love much variety of food and crave their food more (now they always finish their bowl! Before they didn't like the dry food only), and they look healthier, never get an upset stumach, hardly ever fart anymore :P.. Is there any downside to this? Also, I often try different kibble labels, sometimes I feed Regal, sometimes Acana (well I'm gonna try it for the first time now), sometimes Bosch etc. They used to get an upset stumach, but as I began having them on more variety it stopped. I did it in small steps with my older dog but not with the younger, and they both have never got an upset stumach, the younger got it for like one time but then never again

| I used to give many different combination of raw/canned/kibble! I'd keep the same kibble as a base and do add-ins like Stella & Chewys/Nature's Variety or some type of canned food. I'm not currently doing that since we are trying to lose weight... it's easier to keep track of calories if I just feed one type of kibble with maybe some canned pumpkin or a single canned food I think the only downside is if something doesn't agree with your pup then you may have trouble pinpointing which food/ingredient is the culprit. But if your dogs are thriving on this feeding schedule and having no issues, I'd go for it! |

| Be careful when you combine raw and dry. It's a different digestive process for both (raw is easier to digest than dry). When you feed dry it could take longer to digest and cause buildup because when they digest raw, which is easier and faster to digest, it creates a conundrum in the tummy.

| Lots of people feed raw and dry together here, haven't heard of a single problem before with that, my dogs usually have to go do their buisness after 30-60 minutes after feeding time and its not different with the raw food But yes, I'll stick to this then. I'm also trying to get Fido to loose weight, the other one has to gain a little. I just always weigh the food for them and calculate how much of each they need

| And I've heard of lots of cases where it has, so it's not worth the risk for me. But as long as it's all high quality!

| My dog personally I don't think would do well one three different types of food she doesn't have a very sensitive stomach but it has its times. There are many many many very healthy dogs that just have dry dog food that are doing great so I don't think a just dry food diet is bad for them even life saving for the ones that need just dry food prescription food. Callie does not handle raw well we have tried freeze dried and that is the only type I will try with her because the other type had to many juices and it would get in her beard and she would spread germs every where and could make every one sick and she had stomach problems with the freeze dried. I occasionally add some wet food if she is not eating and doesn't feel good but most of the time its just dry food and maybe some chicken or fruits and veggies.

| Dry and wet food in general can be fed but not in the same meal. Say you do dry in the morning and wet at night, it is fine but not both in the same meal as they do digest properly. I do home cooking, with recipes bought, supplements and the dog has been liking it and doing well on it.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I disagree with those who say don't feed raw and processed at the same time, I think this is just a myth. Foods dump out of the stomach at different times normally. It's like saying don't eat a raw carrot with a cracker. I've read this many times on YT, but I've never seen anything that would back it up. Does anyone have some scientific evidence to say this is true? I agree with tokipoki, "I think the only downside is if something doesn't agree with your pup then you may have trouble pinpointing which food/ingredient is the culprit. But if your dogs are thriving on this feeding schedule and having no issues, I'd go for it!"

YT 2000 Club Member | I feel my Yorkies wet and dry food. I measure out the amount they are to eat in the morning. They each get dry food with a tablespoon of water on it and I mix in some wet food. They gobble it up. I feed mine Blue Buffalo. MY JoJo is a year old so he is on adult. My Spud is eight years old so he is on senior adult. I also give ole Spud a pill. It is called Dasuquin. Be sure you are feeding a high quality dog food. Your Yorkies will be strong and healthy! |

I mean, humans eat sushi and then consume cooked meats often right after. It's kind of the same thing.

| But I only feed once a day ... I would feed twice a day if I had the time But I'm very much out on the day, and often the evenings too (school, boxing, horses, boyfriend, friends. etc), but though they are little alone except in the morning when I'm at school, my dad ''doggysits'' them then but he doesn't know how much too feed them ! Maby then one day dry, one day raw, one day wet? Or what ?
