| Eating Habits I love my little one-year-old 8lb yorkie. She is funny, smart, and opinionated. She is potty trained until she wants to make a statement (we have guests? you were gone too long? it's too cold outside? really?) And she eats crazy stuff (sticks, acorns, worms, gekkos, small frogs, and the like) but sticks her nose up at dog food. I've made some of the concoctions suggested for "home made food for dogs" and healthy people food (cooked hamburger, raw hamburger, chopped ham, boiled chicken breasts and hearts and gizzards and liver, green beans cooked and raw, peas in the pod raw, raw carrots, and the like) and several types dog food (from cheap to expensive). she's good with the new stuff for a day or two, then sticks her nose up. The only thing she'd eat 24/7 is her little treats i use to teach her tricks and we all know that wouldn't be healthy! She's not thin by any means, but not fat either. her skin and teeth look good and she gets regular checkups with the vet. her hair is long and lovely. is she normal or am i nuts to be concerned? |

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | Hello and welcom to YT. Some dogs are just picky. Best thing to do is to stick to one in the beginning. They become more picky when you keep changing foods. If you want to put a topper on you can do that.

| I was having the same issue with my 6 month old baby. He won't eat! A friend of mine suggested beef baby food mixed into his dog food. This seems to be the best. It is pure beef with broth no sodium no additives. There are days that Duncan still sticks his nose up or won't eat but for the most part this has worked. My older dogs get plain yogurt added to their food and for a short while Duncan would eat this. But the baby food has been the best. |
