Donating YT 500 Club Member | Ears don't smell as sweet Hi everybody, Alfie is 12 weeks old today. He doesn't smell really except his breath of course and round his ears. I don't think they smell bad just they smell like doggy smell, but having read round the site I am wondering could he have an infection? He has not been in contact with any other dogs he has been to puppy class but didn't touch any other dogs. He has had all his jabs and not due back at the vet for 3 weeks. What do you think? He is doing well playful, eating fine, only scratches when he has had his collar on. |

| Hm Did the vet say anything about his ears when he was last there- I would probably take him back in and have the Vet check his ears, especially since you are smelling something- it isn’t going to hurt anything to run him in real fast to get those ears checked!!

| Definitely call the vet. It could be an ear infection.

| I'm glad that the vet didn't find anything wrong! If they still smell funky, you might invest in a good ear cleanser. We use Epi-Otic (by Virbac I think)...I believe it also has a drying agent in it as well...we use it after every bath to clean out Toki's ears. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Thanks everybody, they don't smell bad just like doggie smell but he has only had 2 baths since we got him and I didnt really wash his face or ears because I don't want to scare him, it is hard though to keep ears dry when you are rinsing off though and I know they got wet. He has an awful lot of hair inside his ears for just 12 weeks (well I think it is a lot compared to the rest of him) I will try and find similar products to the ones you have suggested. Thanks again for the info, I will keep checking in case the doggie smell doesn't go away. |
