Royal Canin? When I bought Joey the lady said she had started him on Royal Canin puppy (#28) so I continued. Now hes 10 months old and steals food from our lab (blue buffalo)...should I continue with the royal canin or just let them eat the same food?

Your baby has GOOD taste I switched from Royal Canin to Blue Buffalo and my dogs got well. They had terrible allergies & my 12 yr old had pancreatitis. They have been on Blue for 3 yrs and doing great.

That worries me. He doesn't seem to have any issues but maybe its because he gets the blue? I'm going to talk to the vet! Thanks!!

If he is not having issues with the Royal Canin, you dont need to panic....some people have pups that are sensitive to grains and have reactions to any food with grains....some have allergies to chicken, beef, beets, alfalfa, etc.... I raise my dogs on Royal Canin and send them to new owners on Royal Canin....have not ever had any documented problems with the food....I certainly have not had any issues with it and I have fed all of my dogs for at least 25 years, on Royal Canin...no health issues. Unless he is having a reaction to the Royal Canin, there is NO reason to switch in a panic ....except it may be easier to feed both dogs the same food! Royal Canin has not had recalls.......they have a fabulous quality control/ quality management at their processing facility, and their diets, all their diets, especially their prescription diets, are scientifically formulated according to positive evidenced based outcomes for well balanced, required nutritional intake/support for dogs. Everyone has their "favorite" kibble/dog food, with or without ingredients they may or may not approve of......and you can run yourself absolutely nuts, bouncing all over the spectrum, switching from dog food to dog food, concentrating on each individual ingredient and additive, rather than looking at the complete, balanced formula.....

Also, at 10 months old, if the OP intends to stay with Royal Canin, it's probably time to start on the 'adult' breed specific version - I think that's what it says on the bag.... Sally x | |

I switched to the adult yorkie food. He still eats the blue buffalo from the lab lol. We are going to be moving (hopefully soon) and I have decided to switch them when I run out of the food I have left. I buy 2-3 bags at a time because the pet store is so far away.
