| What vacs 8m/o need at vet? Luma is almost 8 months old now. She needs to get her baby canines pulled as they were not ready at the time of her spay. I'm planning to bring her in soon for that. Should I go ahead and get them pulled? And while she is there...is she due for anything in terms of vaccines or any tests she needs done? She has not gotten anything since her puppy shots and rabies vacc.

| Definitely not any vaccines yet. They get the puppy vaccs, then at one year they get a booster (dhpp and rabies, on different days preferably). Then after that, depending on what protocol you follow, never again for dhpp or every 3 years. Rabies is required by law every 3 years in most states. I personally follow Dr. Jean Dodd's vaccine protocol. But don't let any vet talk you into yearly vaccines (some do!) Baby teeth are generally pulled during the spay. Has she been fixed yet?

Definitely ask your vet what they recommend but if your pup has any kind of pain or inflammation near the gums, they need to come out as soon as possible. | |

| Yeah I would think it's not the norm for such a young dog to need a dental. And those baby teeth could start causing issues so should probably come out asap. Jackson's baby teeth coming in weird (he had the double row of canines too) were part of what caused him to need $1200 dental surgery at 3 years old ... the baby tooth that wasn't extracted quick enough pushed the permanent tooth a bit to the side JUST to the point where it was poking him in his gums. Not to mention, his breath had started to stink with those double teeth! I was bad at keeping up with his teeth until his dental. Had I brushed every day, or even every other, etc, he definitely wouldn't have needed a professional cleaning by 3. He mainly had build up on his canines.

| when oscar was 7 months old he had 2 top baby canines that had not come out yet and since he was nuetered early my vet just gave him a sedative and removed the canines so he would not have to put under again. |
