My furkids Donating Member | new greenies????? Ok...so I gave in and bought greenies today...they are SUPPOSED to be safer for our pups right?...Well, I bought the tiny ones...for 5 to 15 lbs I sat and held them for the dogs to chew. They are softer...I will save that but, they are so soft and chewy that Bentley got a piece stuck on his back teeth. I tried to get it out of his mouth and it went down his throat!!! and he was chocking!!! I picked him up and was pushing on his belly ...kind like doing the hymalic (sp?) he brought it up but wouldn't spit it out...I think it may have gotten stuck between his cheek and teeth...I let him chew for a bit then gave him a crunchy treat. This helped for him to swallow it....Guess what!!! they are going back to the store!!

| We stopped using greenies about the time Taffy came in the door. Although she was 8yrs when she arrived, she is the choking queen. The poodles used to get them because they didnt scarf their food and would enjoy chewing. I think Mina has had one and I was terrified the entire time she had possession of it. |

| Has any one tried putting a piece of the new ones in a cup of water to see if they expand?

| We had the same issue. No one choked but they were trying to ingest too much at once. I just don't do any chews anymore.

| personally i hate greenies or chews of anykind. when my airedale was a puppy he got a flat piece of rawhide stuck down the middle of his throat and was literally choking to death. I had to reach down his throat and pull it out. scared me to death. |

My furkids Donating Member | When I questioned the girl at Agway (she isn't a very nice person...very condescending and lacks people skills! I HATE going in there!) she (rudely) told me that there wasn't ever anything wrong with greenies....it was because the owners didn't watch their dogs and they would bite off to big a chunk...I was looking at her with fire in my eyes! I'm surprised she didn't go up in flames! LOL...This store in convienient for me to buy their food...Looks like I am going to have to travel now for it...I don't dislike many people...but just the look on her face makes me heat up!

| Here is an article that will tell you more about how this company handled the deaths of dogs from their product. Reading about it again makes my blood boil. Owners: Dog treats killed our pets - CNN

| I don't understand some of these tiny treats and chewy things. The smaller they are the more likely they are to get stuck in the throat. I buy the 12" long thick bully sticks for my little dog. When they get to be 3 to 4" long I throw them away. I only buy the ones that are very hard so she can't bite pieces off. There are so many poorly thought out items on the shelves of pet departments. Nothing I would buy for sure. I'm glad your little one is OK. I don't mess with Greenies either. I don't want her eating those things. There is not nutritional or even chewing value to them. |

| I have just got hymalian chews for my two they are made from yaks milk a kind of hard cheese. When I say hard I mean hard! They love them it take hours for them to get a small bit like grated cheese from them. They have only had them twice ( I give them for an hr or so then take them away) but seem good so far.
