| Nail growing out of bottom of paw? We just noticed our dog limping, and we just noticed that there is a nail, growing out of the pad of his paw. Like in between the top three pads and the main one. Is this normal? |

| It is not normal for a nail to be growing out of the pad and you need to get him into the vet to see what is going on. I bet it hurts very bad and because paws are every where it could get infected fast.

| Now I am wondering if it is a nail. It is hard but we can't really see what it is. When we try to get it out, he screams. We called our vet and they said it could be a tumor, but the vet is out until Wednesday. |

| Then see if you can find another Vet to take him to. Poor baby has to be in pain. I hope he is feeling better soon.

| I think I would try to find a different vet because it is obvious he is in pain and shouldn't have to be in pain that long.

My furkids Donating Member | maybe he stepped on something and it's stuck in his paw...not normal to have a nail growing out of the pads of the feet...If he won't let you touch it he should be brought to a vet to see whats going on. Maybe it's a thorn?

| ?? PAIN = IMMEDIATE VET VISIT! This is not normal and he has something either growing out of an unacceptable part of his little foot, or he has stepped on something, stuck it into his foot, and there is not only alot of obvious discomfort involved, there is also infection brewing there....needs to be taken care of immediately! |

| Many years ago my first dear yorkie Keyla had a nail growing from the pad. I brought him in and it was a tumor but it was not cancerous. My vet removed it and he was fine after that. They put him under and took it out. Poor baby had a couple stitches. He was sore on his paw a few days but healed very fast. Also I could not touch this thing that is why I had him brought in and had it removed. It never grew back either.Good luck with your baby and I hope all goes well for you. Susan |

| Are you certain it isn't the dew claw growing into the pad, but appears to be coming out of it? I have seen that. And yes, they hate when you touch them. Cesar got his dew claws clipped yesterday as a matter of fact and when I have to do his left claw, he goes ballistic, because that one grows almost directly into the pad right away. I started a thread on this. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...dew-claws.html It actually looks a lot worse in person and when I first saw it I thought it was something coming out of his paw as well. Before I even clip the claw he lets out a high pitch squeal. I'm not sure why, he's never been hurt. I'm guessing when it gets too long it causes discomfort, because yesterday it was actually touching the pad (just barely). Just a thought. |

My furkids Donating Member | I wish she would come back and let us know whats going on!!! Never heard of anything like this...although I'm sure anything is possible! Don't like it when people come on here with issues like this then never come back to let us know how it turned out.
