| What do I do: Food Recall: Changed Foods I just found out that they recalled "Natural Balance" dry dog food. I recently switched my Yorkie to this, but only have sample bags until they get the product in which will be next week...maybe. He was on Pro-Plan and when I switched him to "Acana" he had bloody stools. The Vet put him on "Science Diet W/D" until his stools clear up. He wants me to finish the case of that up and mix 25% of W/D with 25% of his old dry dog food, which was "Pro-Plan". I hardly had any of it left during this time and used it up. When I took back the "Acana" food they told me that it was too rich for him and suggested "Natural Balance" and gave me samples. The "Pro-Plan" food they didn't have since I got it from another place. I have just looked online at places that were suppose to carry "Natural Balance" and none of them carry it, or the one I'm using. What do I do~? |

| Just find another food??? Don't know what eating probs your dog has? But IME Nurtisoure= Usa made food Yorkies love it. But I'm going to try to switch to fromm for the Variety. One thing is Royal Caine the Yorikies just go crazy for that. But it has corn so I won't use that. Otherwise it seem like a good food ingredient wise. My point is there many good foods out there to try. |

| I would discuss with my vet as well. Since he had problems on the other food, vet input might be a good idea. Also, lots of places have samples of numerous foods. You might just get the samples and see how your pup does on them.

I forgot to mention which brand of the "Natural Balance" dog food, and it is for small breeds. They don't carry the small breed formula here in the city, but they did out there until the recall and are having difficulty to get this in, tho they have other types but not for small breeds. | I remember your post now. Tough. I wish they had alot more samples to try. Even if some places take the food back. Buying big bags is a hassle. So I imaging you've tried Merrick,Fromm and all the other popular good foods??No grain ect??? Hard to find Fromm but they have many flavors. I find my dogs always liked fish best. |

| Since Tibbe was ill and had had somewhat of a rocky year before the GI problem, I have had him on the Hill's GI I/D & am going to keep him on it until the bag half my size is nearly empty when I will warily start trying him on a new food but if he had to stay on Hill's, I'm fine with it - as long as he's healthy & not spitting up, having bad stools and just lying around instead of playing and enjoying his life, which he started doing after being on the Hill's for a week or so. Unless I find out the Hill's has something in it or is lacking something in it which will adversely affect his health in the long run, I'm okay with it. My Jilly was tried on every food in the book back when she almost died from severe gastroenteritis more than once in 1991 and Science Diet Sensitive Stomach kibble was the ONLY food she could tolerate without getting so ill. She stayed on that for the rest of her life, a few days over 13 years.

| My three Yorkies were on Pro Plan, then I switched them to Royal Canine #28. After reading Dog Food Reviews and Ratings | Dog Food Advisor I have now switched them to Blue Buffalo. They gobble it like candy. They have even lost a few ounces. Check out your brand of food on the website Dog Food Reviews and Ratings | Dog Food Advisor You will be shocked the trash that we have been feeding our furkids.

| But I agree with is what has been said. Feed the pup what he will eat and not have reactions to...then maybe find something better. Or go homemade |

| I love FROMM especially since they have been around since WW2 and never had a recall

| Yup thats why I'm going to look into Fromm. It's not close but I will make a drive to see the foods. If Moki likes it then I can always order online if i want. I like that all the food is similar but has a little different ingredient so you can switch and impact there diet much. Thats was there purpose. = Not so boring for the pup. My pup is eating Nutisource now. What the breeder feed. He loves it. But a 5 lb bag will last. The breeder gave me a 1 1/2# bag?? Of Royal Caine.Whatever the size breeders get? He likes that like it's a chip...I use them as cookies for training. I lucked out he's not a picky eater. |

| We use Fromm grain free foods.... and switching "flavors" isn't an issue with Fromm..... plus it gives the furkids a variety!
