Zachary's Mom Donating Member | Switching to Adult Food My male Japanese Chin, Sir Yumble, is almost a year old. Once he is done with the bag of dry food I have now (Origen puppy), I will be switching him to adult food. Yumble is 13 pounds and his half sister, Yoshi, is 7 1/2. Yoshi has a lot of health issues, severe underbite, poor vision and luxating patellas so she gets soft food all the time because she can't chew dry (she is almost 2). Yumble has a cast iron stomach. He has never had loose stools from any food and the Origen Puppy is tolerated well. Any suggestions about what to switch him too? I buy only the best for my 6 furbabies as I believe that if you feed them the right food as youong dogs, you will have less health problems as they get older. I have heard Evo is good but have never tried it. TIA, Louise |

| Since Yumble is doing well on the Orijen puppy formula, have you considered staying with the same company and trying either Orijen's adult formula or switching over to their sister brand Acana? |

Isn't Orijen a better quality food than Acana? I got some small bags of food from K9Cuisine to try, a bunch of different kinds. I want really VERY good food for him and was thinking of Evo but I hear it is VERY rich and may cause diarrhea for some dogs. Have u ever used Evo???? Yumble may be OK since as I said before, he seems to have a cast iron stomach!! I read a lot of foods people recommend but never Evo. Louise

| You are not having any issues with the brand of puppy food you are using....why switch?? Why not advance him up to the next stage in the brand you are using? Your choice of puppy food has established the "foundation" of your baby...surely it is good enough to continue into adult for him? If you like it, he likes it, there has been not adverse reaction to the food....why switch???? |

I personally have not used EVO although a lady in my apartment complex feeds her 11 m/o yorkie pup EVO and seems to like it just fine. EVO's formulas seem excessively high in protein and fat IMO. But I'd get a few different samples of the different dog foods you're interested and see what works for your pup and how she does on them!

Zachary's Mom Donating Member | I like switching my dogs food so they don't get bored. I don't know if it bothers them to keep eating the same thing all the time but feel better switching every so often. Louise |
