| Fromm Anyone who has been following Jaeger's itchy skin thread knows he's been having skin issues since we've had him. I decided we should switch from Authority Lamb and Rice, we've been researching for a few months now. Just as a disclaimer, I did talk to my vet but she was more concerned about treating the itchiness right now than finding the cause of his itchiness, and after doing it her way for a month (conditioning spray which i was already using, and fish oil) and having to come home with cortisone cream and antibiotics for the bacterial infection he got from scratching, with her words "if this doesn't clear it up, i want to do a skin scrape and steroids, then put him on a long term antihistamine" I decided that we were going to do things my way and switch his food. I wanted to try a grain free LID, but my Sir is (high functioning) autism spectrum and got overwhelmed with all the choices and logistics, so we ended up going with Fromm's grain free surf and turf. I know a lot of y'all like the beef frittata, but it's got pork in it and Jaeger doesn't do well on pork. By the time we got done with everything, even though I tried to steer him, Sir was just ready to be done with it and bought a 4.4lb bag for $20 on amazon. Aside from buying a 30ish lb bag from Mr Chewy's to get the free shipping, does anyone know of a less expensive way to get Fromm's? The closest retailer is in Columbia, which is a 90 minute drive from here. |

| If you got the 4.4 lb bag for $20 shipped, that's probably about as good as it's going to get. None of the online retailers offer free shipping on anything less than $49 that I know of. There are several that have $4.95 or $4.99 shipping. If I recall, petfood.com has pretty decent prices on Fromm, but they charge $5.99 shipping on orders under $25 and $4.99 shipping on orders over $25, so I doubt that will save you any money.

| If you're looking to solve itchiness, I'm not sure Fromm is the way to go. It's a very "busy" food with quite a few ingredients. I LOVE Fromm... as a company, their ingredients, everything... but Jackson itches when on it, and gets softer poo, and eye boogers. It's unfortunate. He tolerates almost anything but can't the Fromm after a few different attempts. Most Yorkies do really well on it though. He does best on Acana. They do have the Singles line now, but it's definitely pricey (I pay $18.99 for a 5lb bag of lamb & apple). We're on the grain-free variety of Acana now which he does well on too. Most LID foods are going to be a bit more expensive. Fromm is actually one of the cheaper foods here at my local pet store. If I'm going to order online and don't want to buy a big bag, I throw in some treats and chews, etc, to add the price up to $49 to get the free shipping. It's stuff we needed anyways so I look at it that way.

| Let us know how Jaeger does on the new food. Hopefully you find a food that works well for him.

| I am using fromm now. Our pet's best carries it so I guess I am lucky! I changed over because it is grain free and of good quality. I do have itchy problems but going grain free.. adding oil and apple cider vinegar to their diet seams to help. I also cook the dinner meal.. mostly chicken, greenbeans, rice ( I know.. it is a grain but they do well on it), I also cook legumes -- most often lentils, and sometimes other veggies. I use balance-it and the recipes on that site and I have seen such an improvement in Bailey. He used to have sores as big as my palm from bitting and such. I wish you the best of luck... and tell your Sir.. I get overwhelmed too

| Well, it arrived, and I gave him a few pieces as a taste test. He snarfed it down though I am not surprised, he eats almost anything. I tried getting a picture of him waiting for my signal to eat the food, but when he is having impulse control issues he backs up to help himself stay under control, and he backed up too far. |

| Oh yay! Hopefully he'll do really well on it! What exactly did you get him? Which flavor? Toki loves the Fromm! She also seems to know when something in the mail is for her and has chewed the corners off boxes ! |

| I feed mine Fromm surf and turf and have no problems. It is a bit pricey, but they don't sneak ingredients in like P&G does with all the companies they have bought and said they wouldn't change the formula. It can be scary, to put our trust in them and then have something happen. The only way to solve it, is like some of you have said, cook it yourself. |

| Yeah, here the grain-free Fromm is comparable in price to something like the Blue Buffalo Wilderness. The Fromm is a couple dollars cheaper depending on where you buy it! And the grain-inclusive formulas are even cheaper. I like that Fromm is a small, family-owned, US based company so I'd be willing to spend more money if that was the case. But it's such a great value for the quality! |

| We can't find Fromm anywhere near here. If he does well on it, there's a small petstore in Atlanta that probably carries it, and we go to ATL every month, so we may resort to that. Also, if he does well on it, we can get a big bag-they seem to be cheaper. We got him the grain free surf and turf, because it was slightly cheaper than the salmon tunalini (would have been my first choice, and we'll try that one if he doesn't do well on the surf and turf.) I won't get the beef frittata-I know a lot of pups on YT like it, but it contains pork, and that upsets Jaeger's stomach. Last thing I need to get a food that makes him itch AND throw up, lol. |

| Mine are all on FROMM. I like mine on Chicken forumulas personally. So they eat Chicken a la Veg. I also give them Honest Kitchen's Force as a topper. Mine don't have grain issues. The next bag maybe Game Bird or Surf n' Turf since my Golden has hot spot issues- Not food related but I won't hurt to try. Some pet stores will specially order food in for you. The independent one I go to now will do it. You could try asking the one you go to as long as they are not a chain if they could do this. It doesn't hurt to ask.
