Senior Yorkie Talker | Puppy Not Eating A lot! How much is a normal amount for an 11 week old (2 1/2 lb) puppy to eat? Jaxx is feeling much much better after having an upset tummy the day before yesterday! He is going to the bathroom & it’s solid & normal again but i’m worried that he’s not eating enough! He will eat a little out of my hand but not really much out of the bowl. He has lots of energy but just want to make sure he is getting enough food & if any of you have ever had this happen with your puppies? Thanks for any information!! |

Senior Yorkie Talker | **update** Well Jaxx was more playful yesterday but today he is sleeping alot more & still playing but will not touch any food! Vet told me to take a little KARO & put it on my finger then either let him lick it off or wipe it on his tongue? I’m open to suggestions! He did have his 2nd round of puppy shots the day we got him which was Friday so could that be a reason for his not eating? Thanks! Last edited by JaxsonsMommy12; 06-27-2012 at 12:10 PM. |

| i am not sure how a much 2 1/2 lb baby should eat but if he will eat out of your hand just keep doing that several times a day. do you leave his food out all the time ? hopefully he will learn to eat from his dish but i guess the most important thing is to make sure he is eating and drinking. it sounds like he is doing well anyway... |

| I agree leave his food out. Khloe has always been picky too. Some days she eats a lot and some days she picks. I always free feed Khloe because she is a puppy and I was concerned about her eating too little. I have even hand fed her just to make sure she eats. |

hi, yeah with a young puppy especially one that tiny he has to have food available at all times. just keep an eye on the food level and make sure he is eating. you want to avoid hypoglycemia( low blood sugar). | |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Update! Jaxx is doing a lot better today! He’s energetic & eating from his bowl! He is on day 2 of no accidents which I know he’s still young & can’t control his bladder but he is very smart & understands the back yard is where he goes to the bathroom! So proud of my baby boy! Thank you all for your advice & tips! I’m keeping food out at all times as well! |

| I would keep it down as long as it's kibble. I am glad your sweet boy is feeling better. I learned a couple tips when Georgie was a puppy...he loves boiled chicken and non fat plain yogurt even with an upset tummy he couldn't resist and it helps!
