| new puppy crying all night I got a new puppy 2 days ago. The first night she slept in the playpen and cried very little. Last night was terrible and she was crying really hard. I eventually got up and laid next to her. She would still whine off and on. If I leave her be in the playpen and she cries can she get hypoglycemia from exerting herself through crying. I may have already done the damage by sleeping next to her last night but I miss my bed and my husband. |

| Congratulations on finally finding your little one. How old is she? Yorkies are very social animals and like to be with their people. Mine sleeps with me , no crying and we both get a good nights sleep. You might have luck using a small crate and placing it on a chair so that she can see you. Also, try putting a piece of clothing you've worn in with her - that also worked for me.

| I would make sure you have the playpen next to your bed with a pee pad, water and a bit of food. You could also give her a late evening meal to hold her over until morning and make sure her blood sugar doesn't plummet. I'm not sure how old your puppy is though? This is what worked well for our little Shayla. Congrats on your new puppy and welcome to Yorkie Talk! |

| My parents are currently having this issue with their new puppy. He is not liking his crate at all. He has gotten better with his playpen but the crate....oh lord you would think something was in the crate with him trying to kill him. One of my good friends who's a certified trainer came to our house yesterday and suggested getting some kong toys, filling them with something yummy such as peanut butter, carrots, apples, etc., basically healthy things, freezing it and then offering it to him at night when he goes in his crate. The key to it though is that he ONLY gets that special treat anytime he's going in his crate, that way he thinks of his crate as a happy place. My mom said last night he was quiet when she put him in the crate with the kong so we'll see how this continues to go! |

i think the reason she is crying all night is because she is only 7 weeks old. she should still be with her mom & siblings. | |

| puppy I have 2 other yorkies she is near. The reason the breeder sold her to me was we drove 2 hours to put down a deposit and were going to go back to pick her up when she was ready. The breeder said she is not nursing anymore and is eating and drinking on her own so I could take her. She was going to let her go at 8 weeks. My other yorkie I got at 8 weeks and had the same problem with. The difference was my oldest daughter was living with me and slept with her all night until I moved her into my bedroom on the floor. That only tool 1 week |

| She is crying because she is a baby & probably scared & missing her mom & siblings. She should have stayed with her mom till she was at least 12 wks old. Also dogs are pack animals so it's natural for them to not want to be alone. Is there a reason why she can't sleep with your other dogs ? If you put a crate with a soft blanket & a stuffed animal in it, in your room next to your bed where she can see & smell you she will probably do much better. She is simply too young to be left alone. |

| Awe she is so young I am sure that's why she is crying. Unfortunately you may not get back to sleeping in bed with your hubby for awhile unless you put her in bed with you Georgie was 10 weeks when he came home which is still too young he whined in the crate for 15 minutes and that was it....he started sleeping with Mommy and Daddy They want a warm body there with him and we gladly obliged. Good luck and please keep in mind she is young so it will take time.

| Jaeger was 10 weeks when we brought him home. He cried for 3 nights straight-never let up, I swear. Between his crying and taking him to the bathroom every 2 hours I couldn't take it anymore and he slept with us from then on. We tried shirts with our scent, a ticking clock, kongs, etc....nothing calmed him down but us. |

| I sleep on the floor with a blanket and pillow next to her crate (I know..I probably won't be ever able to sleep in my bed again)..but I couldn't have her waking up my guy. She goes to sleep in her crate about 6:30 and doesn't wake up till 4:30, I immediately hear her, cause I'm right next to her, and let her out, she usually pees and poops, then I play with her for about 45 minutes and put her back in her crate, and she goes back to sleep. She's fine as long as she see me sleeping next to her she just goes back to sleep, but if I try to sneak off and she wakes up and doesn't see me there, she starts whining...shes 12 weeks old. |
