| Help! Acana Puppy for Luma? We're low on our TOTW food and I'm definitely never buying Diamond again, and we're looking at Acana now. Does Luma need to eat a puppy formula? She was on TOTW High Prarie Puppy (Roasted Venison & Bison). I'm looking at Acana's products right now and not sure which would be best for her. I heard many here on YT do well on the lamb and apple, but Luma is only half a year old. Should we be looking at their puppy formulas? Does anyone here feed Acana to a < 1 yr. old yorkie? What formula are they eating??

| I've spoken to a several different owners and employees at small pet food stores in my area and a couple of them think it's not necessary to stick with a puppy formula and one guy I spoke with said it was kind of a marketing gimmick. With that being said, puppies still need a higher fat and protein content since they're growing so I'd look for a formula that has similar percentages of components like protein and fat. Acana's grain-free line has similar values to the puppy formula in terms of those two factors which is what I looked at for Toki. I went ahead and switched her to an all life stages grain-free formula from Fromm when she was 8 months and she's been doing well on it! |

| Acana puppy is not available in the US - none of their 'Classic' line is except for chicken & burbank potato. I'd say one of their grain-frees would be the closest to what she's used to Ranchlands is their "red meat" formula which is a bit higher in cals than the others.
