| Food for Pancreatitis I know some of you have babies that have had a flare up- What do you feed them so it stays in control.. I know you are suppose to have a low fat diet. I am going to talk to the Vet- He wants to put him on Hills (I believe) Peanut has been on that and didn't do to well- I was just wondering what some of you feed to see what my options are-

Oh ok. He is very picky, so that worries me- I guess I should ask my Vet what % he wants him on... Then I can look around. Thanks for your input! I will probably be bothering you later

| Ellie eats Purina HA. It has worked well for us. I wouldn't say it is the first food vets choose for this, but Ellie has many other issues to balance. I'd homecooked for her or feed RC LF Rx if she could have it, but she can't...

| Rosie has IBS and the vet put her on Hills I/D. She did fine on it. But I home cook for her now. Used Dr. Remillard at Petdiets.com and help from Cathy and Lisa . She has done very well since we started homecooking. Honestly, I am very very glad I switched to homecooking. Don't ever see me doing anything differently for my girls.

| Get away from kibble entirely get your dog on a raw unprocessed diet. Also ensure they are taking probiotics and digestive enzymes help break down the food and take stress from the pancreas. There is a natural supplement called curcugen which provides pancreatic support. So feed raw twice a day add half a capsule of each to each meal. |

| Think this way, your dogs pancreas is not functioning correctly and is under stress. Feeding it chemically enhanced dry foods increase the stress on the organ. You need to look into as natural a remedy as possible for the sake of your dog. Pancreatitis |

| I'm not familiar with that brand as its likely US and I'm in Canada I use Tollden farms. If its anything like that then yes. Ground meat bones and organs. The supplement I use are AOR probiotic 3 and AOR DPPzyme. I deal with a very well respected and publishe holistic vet who advised to stick to poultry rabbit or lamb. He said the game meats have often proven too rich for the dogs system and many dogs have had allergy issues with beef. I hope that helps. PM me if I can help you out further. The brand of curcugen is Genestra |

| My first Yorkie I ever owned (that survived past 3 months because of horrible breeding issues)was diagnosed with pancreatitis in the early '80s. That was my introduction to Royal Canin. I have used it ever since, and watched it grow and develop to accommodate the nutritional needs/requirements of different breeds, life stages, and specific disease processes. It has served me and all my Yorkies, over all this time, very well, including now, my breeding program. My little QuiSa ( 1977-1992), in spite of her pancreatitis, lived a full and wonderful life, eating RC her entire life and having very few "flare ups" during all that time. I completely understand the enthusiasm for home cooking, not everyone can do this for whatever reasons.... if you personally are in such a position where home cooking is not an option for you, I would just want you to know you CAN rely on Royal Canin L/F Rx to provide everything your Peanut requires, as well as properly and effectively managing his pancreatitis.
