dermatophytosis in dogs Have been doing research on this-I think this is what Teaka had after a scraping. I am trying to rule out everything I can. It's a fungus related to ringworm, but dogs can have no lesions at all. I am checking it out. It's very common in Yorkies and Jack Russels. Anyone else been diagnosed with this as a cause of (sone) of the itching? Am still using the antifungal shampoo, which is good for t his condition.

hi, i was wondering what her symptoms are? (what does her skin look like, hair loss, itching, etc) My yorkie has had all kinds of health issues since this past december including vomiting and bloody stools. Everything has come back negative but Im thinking she has a food allergy. I have pretty much cleared up the vomiting and her stools with the help of limited ingredient diet and plant enzymes and probiotics, but Ive been noticing she has scaly skin on her stomach, hair loss on stomach and legs, sneezing, itching, scooting her bottom. Im thinking she may be allergic to something still in her food. Im also going to try the none scented tide detergent just to make sure its not an allergy to that. Ive looked into antifungal and antibacterial shampoos because through my research I have found that yeast can cause a lot of allergy problems or allergy like symptoms. So Im going to try malaseb I think. Ive read on here that coconut oil can be a more natural treatment for yeast and bacteria so Ive consider that too. Just not sure since shes so sensitive to everything. I hope some of this helps you. I liked the great dane ladys article about yeast she has a website. it came up on google search when I put yeast infection.

I also just read tea tree oil. May try that as well. I like the more natural healing treatments but not sure if they will work as wel as medicated ones.

itching-the list Latte was itchy and scooting (with twirling!) for several months. She developed a bacterial infection with little sore pimples on her chest and legs. She didn't. ever vomit or have diarrhea. She had a yeast smear which was negative. We are on our third food trial, oat and kangaroo. Yesterday I finally had the VARL allergy test for food allergies. (I am tired of guessing.) We found out a while ago that she is hypothyroid and that explains some of her itching. She uses Ketachlor shampoo once a week for yeast (just because the smear is negative doesn't mean there's not yeast on her skin). She takes thyroid supplement twice a day and a Zyrtec. She is currently being weaned off a short course of prednisone. And she has an antibiotic for the bacterial infection, confirmed yesterday as well. The last few days have been the best in months!! Latte is 10 now and she has had allergy issues for about 6 years. The scooting was a new symptom about 6 months ago. I know it's not her anal sacs-she gets those expressed every 2 weeks and they are fine. Oh! And because she's old, her vulvar area has little folds near it and these get itchy-the vet and I think-and so I have put Desitin on that area to help the skin stay soft. I think the scooting has been a result of that and the scaly skin on her belly. All in all, she's adorable and I am about to have my nap with her and her Lambie. I hope this helps. I did a lot of research myself, but be careful-too many internet articles can freak you out! Last edited by Latte's Mom; 05-30-2012 at 11:52 AM.
