| Are Animals like Birds, and Frogs good for my yorkie? I know back in royalty times they would eat such animals but I'm curious if they can still eat frogs and birds according to my yorkie book. I'm asking because my Yorkie keeps eating birds and frogs every-time we walk the neighborhood |

Max Main's Mamma Donating YT Member | Hello and welcome to YT!!! I am pretty sure there are frogs that are highly poisonous and could kill a dog (small or big). I think it depends on where you live or the type of frog. I read about it after finding my big dogs tossing a frog around in the yard. They ended up being fine, but I would try to avoid letting your little guy eat any thing other than good dog food, treats, etc. You never know what freaky diseases could be lurking around.

| Hello and welcome! I have also heard that some frogs can be very poisonous to dogs. Best to keep a better eye on your pup and maybe take something with you like some chicken or hotdog and offer a trade - the bird or frog for something tastier - hopefully he will eventually realize that it is better to drop the yucky stuff and eat what you are giving him. At 5 months old, he is still learning. Good luck!

| You cannot allow your dog to eat frogs. Here, in Florida we have deadly Bufo frogs. They will kill dogs. Bufo marinus - A Frog That Can Kill Your Dog - Panama Guide I'm not sure what kind of frogs you have in Virginia Beach, but I'm happy to help you research it. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

| Eeeewwwwww. Are there really that many frogs where you walk? And how is he getting birds unless they are already dead? I'm also curious as to what book you are referring to.

| Our largest yorkie Ginger (about 10-11 lbs) has caught, killed, and at least partially eaten several birds and small rabbits. Of course we take them from her when we see her with them, but by then they are usually at least half eaten. She manages to catch them somehow. She has never really had a problem except once she had a bone from a bird stuck in her mouth and we had to take it out.

| I'd be so afraid the frog or bird had some disease or ate something itself that could make Tibbe sick or kill him that I would never allow it - aside from the gross factor. When we're out on walks, he's on his leash & I control his pursuits for his safety sake. He'd probably eat anything he came across but I prevent it. Who knows if a frog has been in a leptospirosis-polluted puddle just B4 the dog came upon it or something like that. I don't know if a dog could get a disease like that but I will never permit his getting to the frog so hopefully I won't have to find out.

YT Addict | I wouldn't allow it!!! Miles and I walked past a dead mouse once and we steered clear. Disease, Lepto, etc. I would rather him eat corn which is edible, healthy food. I've given him some of mine. |
