| doggy insurance Hey everyone- just lookin for some feedback on whether or not its smart to get health insurance for Sirius [he will be 11 weeks this friday] he is my first puppy... do you guys think its cost effective? does anyone have a plan they use and recommend? i dont really know how it works- some are offered through certain vet offices, others you submit your bill for reimbursement...just want to know what you guys think about it. thanks in advance<3

| I signed Reyna up right away when I got her for a health plan. It covered all dr's visits, tests, and vaccinations. Also they give a % off medications, surgeries etc. A set amount is debited from my account each month and I don't have to worry about paying every time we go for a vaccine or check up. Of course after she turns one year, I'll rethink whether or not it is cost effective any more....probably won't be as they do not need to visit the vet quite as frequently. Hope this helps. |

| since i'm a first time puppy owner i figure it would be best if i got insurance. i get paranoid about every little thing that looks, smells, feels, not right about my puppy! an office visit at $45 a pop plus vaccines, etc would just be insane! the insurance i got will cover all routine checkups, vaccines, office visits, health certification to fly if i need it (using that this christmas!!) as well as neutering when the time comes. |

| Pet Insurance A Good Thing I purchased pet insurance for Winston. I researched what was available to me in Canada. Here we only have two compaines. I checked what both had to offer and talked with my vet about each. I did purchase it, and it cost about $1.63 can. per day. This is for 100 % coverage from nose to tail. Over 6 thousand illnesses, and accidents are covered at cost of the vet, not prorated by the insurance company. The accident insurance kicked in right away, the health part had a 30 day waiting period. Very sad, but i guess people sign up when they find out their wee one is ill. Wisnton was covered as of Dec. 2 2005 for health. You might know that he ended up being very ill weeks before the insurance kicked in. I would have paid two arms and two legs to have him well. I am happy to report after weeks of having to hold him up to even pee, he is doing so much better. He will make it. Thank God. So i vote yes for insurance. It takes the stress off. Some people can't afford to have costly surgerys and tests, done. This is horrible. We all love our wee babies. I know we would all do anything to save them or to give them the care they need to get better. Wishing all of you a safe and Merry Christmas. Heather (Canada) |
