| My girlfriends boxer does this too, it can be socially crippling! At one point she would not even visit the dog park cause her girl would eat everyone elses poop! It was actually funny to watch, she would follow other dogs around waiting for them to go! It was so bad she did not want to show her face at the park.. Some owners would tease her and ask is she kisses her dog after that? and she was beside herself! She finally found a powder that you sprinkle on their food that makes their poop taste aweful... it worked! But she will still eat other dogs poop.... Not a great solution for her but it fixed half of the problem. Not sure what the powder is called....... anyone????

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My pom did that when she was a puppy! So grossed me out. I put the powder Forbid (from the vet)on her food and it helped somewhat but at about 5-6 months she just stopped. She still smells her poop everytime she goes but has never eaten since. Good Luck

| i asked my vet about this... and she just smiled and said... yeah... puppies do that.... but not only does mine eat his poop, he likes to lick his urine too, as well as play with his poop as if it's a toy. i have so many other fine toys for him and he wants to play with the poop. bleh. i'm giving my puppy "Deter", that's suppose to help with the poop eating part. So far i've just been more diligent about picking up his poo before he can turn around and sniff it. i'm desperating waiting for this phase to pass... even more so than the human chew toy phase. |

| I've read that they may do it to "get rid of the evidence" if they know they made a mistake. Also read that sometimes it couold be due to a nutrition deficiency, probably pretty rare. My Samson does it too. I'm hoping he'll grow out of it. A friend of mine used meat tenderizer on their food. It's supposed to make it less appetizing. Also read on here you can use a little pineapple in their food. |
