| giving a pill I know I can ask the vet tech this question, but you all are so inventive and clever....how do you give your furbaby a pill? I can't put it in cheese, peanut butter or a pill pocket because we're on a food trial. Right now, I lay her on her back and wait for her to "open wide", then I drop it down the back of her throat. (Keep in mind, these are 1/4 pills-nothing large.) I am having a friend house-sit for a few days in a month and I'm wondering if I can make it easier for her. Any ideas? |

| I have done everything from hiding it in food to a pill gun. I finally got tired of it and use pill pockets. Even my dog w/ severe allergies can tolerate a tiny bit of the pill pocket for her daily meds. Good luck

| Omgosh giving Georgie pills is the soooo difficult. We have tried cream cheese, peanut butter, regular cheese, boiled chicken you name it and it doesn't work. We have had to ask for liquid meds for him. Good luck!

| When I had to give Callie Tramadol that she would not take no matter what after her knee surgery the vet tech gave me a pill shooter and it works awesome now I use that anytime she has to take a pill. Its not like a shooter it very gently drops the pill down there throat. Make sure though its the one with the rubber tip not hard plastic tip. I would think laying them on there back and putting the pill in no matter how small could choke them.

| We use either cheese or open his mouth, toss it to the back as far as we can and gently hold his mouth shut until he swallows it - then we give him tons of praise!

| No problem, I love the ease of the pill shooter because a lot of the time Callie would eat the food around the pill and spit the pill back out or with Tramadol she would not come near it.

| When we picked Georgie up from his AAI surgery they gave us pills. The vet tech said oh we put it in cream cheese and he ate it. So of course Mommy and Daddy went and bought cream cheese for Georgie to take his meds. Nothing doing! He would do like Callie eat all the cream cheese and spit the pill out. We had to call the Specialist on Saturday morning and ask for liquid. I was so stressed about having such major surgery and him not taking any meds.
