| recall rant! I am a member of another message board also. It really concerns me that these individuals aren't concerned about the recall at all. One member even said pets can't get salmonella. I posted the recall link and the link from diamond even discusses the symptoms. Its like they are in denial. I took Khloe off her food and it was the only one working for her. My co worker's sister just lost her yorkie yesterday. They took her to the animal hospital. She had vomitting and runny stool. She was not on any of the foods on recall list. The doctors said she her pancrease was enlarged. She and her children are heartbroken. My coworkers sister rushed her girl to hospital and still lost her. Can you imagine not taking precautions like these nuts on the other forum? Thank God for my friends here at YT who care about animals. Last edited by tinalove; 05-10-2012 at 05:26 AM. |

| Its sad. There are also some people who stopped feeding the food but plan to go back to it when its fixed but that seems reckless to me. I know I will never buy a diamond food ever.

| I agree. I will never go back to diamond again. There seems to be problems every couple of years with them. Its not an isolated incident but massive and chronic. I regret this because they have some great brands. |

| My dog may not get salomonella from eating it but I sure as heck dont want to be handeling food that has salaonella. Since dogs are getting sick Im not so sure it doesnt affect them anyway. It is silly to take the risk

This is a quality assurance/quality management issue....and it re-occurs, with the same companies, every couple of years. If they ever recalled a food I was feeding, I would think long and hard about going back to anything produced from that manufacturer....unless I was certain their quality management had improved at the plant. | |

| Just because dogs aren't as likely to get Salmonella (shorter intesines), doesn't mean that they WON'T get it. It's a lower risk compared to humans, but a risk nonetheless. That being said, a couple of years ago when I was trying to decide what food to give Jezebel, I had a list of requirements that I wanted the potential candidates to meet. Some were nutritional, while others were not (like can I find it locally), or does she like to eat it and does it agree with her system. I also had the requirement that the company could not have anything to do with Diamond, that automatically eliminated their food from my list. Diamond made many of the foods that were contaminated with melamine and then they had the problem with the mold toxin. I didn't care if the food they ship to my area is supplied by their own non-Diamond manufacturing location, if they made any of their food at Diamond, that tells me something.

| Yes, so very sad. I'm sorry for your co-worker and her family for the loss of their sweet dog. I know, I would never take the chance on continuing to feed Zhoie TOTW, nor will be do any Diamond products in the future...period

| Did you tell them that the CDC has confirmed 14 cases of humans getting salmonella poisoning from handling their dog food???? It's not just the pets that are at risk. I just switched my dogs over to Fromm. So far so good. I will probably stick with Fromm now. The store I buy the food from has been trying to get me to switch, and this was just the push I needed to make that switch.
