2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Has anyone used: Leba lll or Vetzlife Tarter Controle? Had a visit with the vet today and it was no surprise to me. All of the dogs teeth have some form and degree of tarter. I've known that for some time now. Miah is the worse, it's bad. But with money being tight and in lew of surgery at this time I asked the doc if there was anything that could help. She suggested Leba lll or Vetzlife. She had a bottle of the Leba lll with about 1/4 left that another customer said didn't work so she gave it to me to try. She also said that it hasn't gotten very good reviews. They no longer carry it but if it works I can find it on line. Plus, I got a bottle of the Vetzlife that they currently carry on hand. Leba lll 1oz bottle = $74 (I can buy on line for $47.99) Vetzlife 2.2oz = $12 I'm going to finish up the bottle of Leba lll and see what kind of results I get. If it works than I will buy it on line. If it doesn't work I'll try the Vetzlife and hope for better results. Especially considering the difference in cost and that I have four dogs to treat I would prefer the Vetzlife. But I'm desperate, its bad and it's not getting any better so I will pay for the more expensive one if I have too. I don't want to see my babies get sick from this. If this doesn't work I will have to start pinching pennies and putting money back for surgery for Miah. I just want to try all options and see what can be done before I taking that next step. Has anyone use either of them and if so what type of results did you get? Is there something out there that you would suggest for them to help them with the tarted other than the sprays? My dogs are very picky when it comes to treats including dental treats. They hate everything except raw hide or pig hoofs. What else might I try?

| The dentist I took Daisy to recommended Health Mouth water additive. She and Barney liked the flavor, but the apple green color and flavoring freaked Teddy out. The others are not VOHC products so I wouldn't consider using them. I'd go for the surgery for long term health of your dog.

| We use a water addictive, with brushing once a week. Corky went to vet and she saw and much improvement. Pet insurance should cover some dental stuff also. will help with cost. |

| I have never used either of those products. My Jada's teeth weren't really that bad, but when she had her emergency surgery Wed for a mass on her back, we opted to go ahead with a dental since it had been almost 2 years. Poor baby had an abscessed molar in the very back of her little mouth. I cried because I had no idea there was a problem, and she had to be in pain. I brush her teeth and use a water additive, but still there was this issue. I don't think anything can replace having regular dentals.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I guess their changing the name, I've been using Petzlife for about 5 years and I'm very happy with the result. It's said to soften tartar, which you can brush away at a later time. Quote:

I would like to add, Corky had no bad teeth. He did not need a cleaning from his vet. This is just to maintain his dental health, with weekly brushing. | |

| I have been using Leba III for almost 3 years. I just recently stopped and started brushing my dogs' teeth instead. Cooper is 4 next month and has never had a dental but I do feel it's almost time. I see that he's starting to get tartar build up. Max will be 2 next month and his teeth are perfectly white and tartar free. He's been using Leba III since he was a pup. I also recently started brushing his teeth instead. I just have a feeling that physically getting the tartar off with a brush has to be a better option, although I believe the Leba III is effective. They both have annual check ups next week with a new vet so I will report back whether or not my vet thinks the boys have been doing well on Leba III.

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Thanks for all of the input. Update: I have used the Leba III for the past week and I am pleased to say that there has been a noticeable difference in Miahs teeth. I can see that the tarter has come off in layers and has gotten lighter in color. I'm not sure what that means but it seems to be working, which is a good thing. Bad news is that the left over Leba III that the vet gave me is now gone and I am now starting to use the Vetzlife. I am hoping for the same result if not better. Will keep you informed.

| Is Vetzlife the same as Petzlife? I've always liked Petzlife. I know it does contain some alcohol as an ingredient, but don't feel it's enough to to harm my 16lb dog and it's always proved successful for us (we use the gel). I do try to brush daily (w/ CET toothpaste) but it usually ends up being about 5 days a week. I apply some Petzlife gel 1-2x per week as well for maintenance and occasionally sprinkle PlaqueOff on his food, but don't know if it REALLY makes a difference or not. He did have a dental last October while under for another mouth procedure and he did have some tarter build-up (at 3 years old) but very minimal and I honestly NEVER used to brush his teeth... so now that I've been keeping up on it since, they are still very white and tarter free. I'm SO glad I had the professional dental done and got a clean fresh start! These products are GREAT, but I don't think anything compares to getting a professional to do it, and get stuff that couldn't be done while they are awake. Plus Jax also had a dead tooth in the front that I had NO idea about... they said that was probably causing more discomfort than his over-bite.... so I was glad I did it!

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Is Vetzlife the same as Petzlife? I'm not sure, I searched for it on line a found that the one that I got from my vet "Vetzlife" is in a different bottle than the Petslife. Some one in a post earlier said that it may be the same. Vetzlife is 100% all natural ing. / contains: Grapefruit seed extract, Grape seed extract, Thyme oil, Neem oil, Rosemary oil, and Peppermint oil. These are all specially formulated with distilled water and grain alcohol.
