| Kennel Cough I took Cloey in for her shots almost 3 weeks ago, along with getting her dangly back dew claws removed. She started to cough about a week after the visit. So I took her in with her cough while getting stitches removed. The vet said its just a side affect of the kennel cough drops vaccine they put in her nose. Ive had past dogs get this and they only coughed for a few days after. Well its been nearly 3 weeks and now poor Cloey is coughing up a lung and puking up any water she may have drank. I called the vet back, they got her some anitbiotics. But she coughs that up as well. Vet said there isnt anything else they can give her since it is viral. Any ideas? I read online that puting her in the bathroom while I shower helps open her airway. But she doesnt seem to be getting better and I feel so bad that she hacks all the time Is there something I can give her to help calm her cough so the antibiotics stay down? |

| I hope so to! Im almost tempted to ask the vet if I can give her a breathing treatment! My daughter has to take those all the time every since she was a premie baby for allergies, etc. |

| This is ridiculous, the vet is the reason she has this. Have you called any other vets, I think a second opinion would be a very good idea!

| I hate that vaccine they drop into their nose...When they used to go out to a groomer, I used to insist on the injection for kennel cough. I changed vets because they would no longer give the shot...they said the nose "drops" were more effective....then the same thing that is happening to YOU happened to me and it took FOREVER for the baby to get over the respiratory infection those drops caused. I DO NOT go there any more! Bumper was on antibiotics for several months, treating a secondary pneumonia caused from the viral infection (kennel cough!)those NASTY drops caused my baby! |

| Sometimes a vet will prescribe cough syrup or tell you how much OTC cough syrup to give. Our pom had the same thing and it took 2 rounds of antibiotics and 2 months for her to stop coughing. |

| Keep us posted on your baby, especially let us know if you see another vet and he/she does for treatment! I hope Cloey feels better soon. Sorry for how abrupt my first post was, I was just upset that your girl would be fine if it weren't for those drops!

| I absolutely know she would be ok if not for those darn drops! Everyday I get more and more upset. I called another vet, they said I could do breathing treatments on her twice a day. Just to let her throat relax. I did one this afternoon and she got some rest. But unfortunately she is up and coughing again. Im going to call this same vet back and ask for some cough meds for her. This is so sad to see my girl like this. Never again! :'( |
