| New Puppy--Not urinating or having a BM Need Someone's Advice please!! Hi, I got my almost 12 week old yorkie pup (2 lbs)today at 2 pm the breeder said she hadn't ate yet!! She was shaking constantly however I got that under control. I guess she's scared!! I finally hand fed her b/c she kept refusing to eat. She drank very very little water w/ Karo. I just checked on her now & she still hasn't urinated or had a BM. She also isn't walking around or doing anything. I stand her up & she'll stand for a second & lay back down. I'm worried something isn't right. Is this normal??? Please someone let me know!! Thanks so much!!! |

| Oh my , i would not even feel comfortable giving any advice on this simply because at 2 pounds she is such a tiny baby. I would recommend going to the breeder for help or get her to a vet ... Hope she feels better soon.. |

| Just seeing this now... hoping your furbaby is doing better today. Did you contact the breeder or vet? Do you have nautical (or equivalent) on hand?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | It sounds like it could be hypoglycemia and one of the symptoms of hypoglycemia is lack of appetite. You were wise to give the Karo syrup that helps raise the blood sugar fast and they can eat regular food within 20 minutes. Many breeders believe in having food and water available 24/7 so that they never get so hungry they lose their appetite. Small puppies lose their energy reserves so quickly, even a few minutes of playing will do it.

| I was thinking the same thing - Nutrical or equivalent.... good luck with your pup and if she isn't any better, I would definitely get in touch with your breeder and/or take her to the vet/Emergency Vet.

| How is the baby today??? You need to get a tube of NutraCal or NutraStat....you put dime sized dabs on your finger and put it into the baby's mouth, on the roof of her mouth so she doesnt spit it out....she may not drink the water with the Karo in it....at that weight, she needs to be eating, or getting sugar some how...NutraCal is what you need....dont wait for her to start drinking water with Karo in it....she may not get enough....she may not get ANY, if she isnt drinking! Also, there is a product I personally do NOT do without...Dr.Miller's Pet Nutra Drops....they LOVE this stuff, and it is ECXELLENT for your baby....Animal Wellness Center |, or 613-834-2387...I have NOTHING to gain from this product, I just love it and it works well and is simple to give because they love it! But let us know how your baby is doing now....... |

| GREAT NEWS!! She has urinated twice & had a BM--Thank Goodness!!! She is eating & drinking water. Ive been giving her Karo syrup in water & Nutrical. However, she still gets real nervous when we pick her up & shakes but she won't walk around or play! She just lays there, she don't seem sick. Is it possible for them to miss their mom? Do you think she will walk around or play soon? I have a vet appointment on Tuesday night!! |

| Puppies are very playful when not sleeping and usually inspecting their surroundings to the point of driving you crazy trying to keep up. If mine were not playing between naps and just lying there, I would be at the vet's office.

| I spoke with the breeder a few times today!! She is eating, drinking, urinating & BM's fine now! She however isn't playing---the breeder thinks its b/c she's lonely, she's not adjusting well but she'll be at the vet tomorrow! Im sure she needs a few days to adjust to her new family! |
