| Good fruits and veggies to use as treats? Hi everyone! I'm about to get my first Yorkie next week (I'm so excited!) and I was wondering if you could give me a list of some fruits and veggies that Yorkies can eat. I know I need to start training my Yorkie as soon as I get her, and part of the training is using treats to praise. There are a lot of treats out there that probably aren't very healthy so I'd like to use mostly fruits and veggies. I also know that there are certain fruits and veggies that can make yorkies sick such as grapes and onions. So if you guys could tell me of certain fruits and veggies that Yorkies like, that would be great! Thank you all! |

| Mine really like melon the best. I make celery with fat free peanut butter and they like that also. They arent so crazy about bananas but they will eat peaches. For vegetables they like green beans. They will also eat broccoli but they wont eat raw they must be cooked. They will eat potatoes too I usually cut up into tiny pieces and put some gravy on

| Jada and Bogie's absolute favorite is green beans. I also let them have tiny bits of banana occasionally. They like carrots, but for some reason when I give them carrots often Jada tends to put on weight.

| Thanks everyone! You've given me lots of great ideas. I basically just wanted to make sure I don't feed my puppy anything that makes her sick. |

| I prefer not to give a dog too many vegetables. I think one can over-do it (but I don't think there's anything wrong with giving veggies either). Plus Jackson doesn't even digest them. lol. The few times he's had a piece of carrot, or corn, etc, it just comes right back out in his poop so I see no benefit to giving them. He also doesn't like them. lol.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Joey loves broccoli, green beans and snow peas, I stay away from carrots because my best friend in grade school choked on one, and the doctor said it's one of the few vegetables that won't soften and dissolve, so that scares me, but I know some people will cook them a little and that helps. Don’t forget that even if it “looks” like they aren’t digesting a vegetable, the fiber is good for intestinal health. In the wild, they would eat feathers/ hair and other things they can’t digest at all, but this is still good for the intestines. Cooking also aids in digestion. Most frozen vegetables are parboiled, so thawing them would be enough.

| One of my babies absolutely loves tomatoes. I think it started because I would give her small bits of my pizza so she got meat tasting tomatoes, but not she will beg so much if I am cutting a tomato and barely ever begs any other time. My other baby likes apples a lot and she is super super picky about treats and foods. She will eat the dry dog food, but I have a really hard time finding any treats that she will eat. She has actually been afraid of treats before. So apples and fruits work when we are home, but it is difficult when we are out because fruits aren't always the easiest things to keep in my purse. I just added that to make sure you find a take-a-long food he will like if you plan on spending lots of time out. |

| Jack eats just about everything mentioned above - he loves apples, bananas, cooked carrots (he does not like raw carrots), strawberries, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, regular potatoes (again, cooked), celery but I am careful to take the strings out, blueberries and he loves these frozen too! Good luck with your new baby!
