| K9 Naturals Hi All, so I've finally got Harley stablized enough to try a new food to help his allergies. He has GI issues, and skin issues. The vet food helped the GI but he's still having skin problems so after 2 months we're going to try a new food. Everyone has been pressuring me to try raw, but honestly I don't have the time to prepare it, nor do I want to, I think straight up raw food is kinda gross. But that's neither here nor there. Well the vet has Ok'd me to try K9 Naturals Lamb freeze dried in 2 weeks when our bag of food is running low. I'm excited and would love to hear what you have to say about this.. I'm not looking for recommendations on other foods or anything, more just wanna share that I'm excited to get him off of the vet food.

| I just learned about it this weekend. I hate the idea of straight up raw... but this stuff you just scoop out and add water. As soon as I asked the vet she said she thought it was a VERY GOOD idea... lol she's been trying to get me to try raw for a while.

| Yes Im squeamish on the raw myself thats why even though I researched it I never did it. Im a real anti bacteria type of person so I am extremely careful when dealing with raw meat anyway

| Well i have no experience with this food but congrats on the switch!. Three different spoons while cooking?! Ok yea raw feeding is definitely not for you lol. I love to cook and don't mind one bit handling/preparing raw meat but i see your predicament. Good luck with the new food |

| Just curious did you have your Yorkie allergy tested? My Miss Mini has horrid horrid skin allergies, I thought for sure it was food, tried everything and always ended up on antibiotics and steroids...finally had her tested and found out it was environmental and HER BIGGEST ALLERGEN WAS HUMAN DANDER!!! LOL We now do shots every 2 wks and its so wonderful not to have skin problems anymore...

| Well I'm totally loving this new food. We're taking the food change very slow, cause we don't want to upset his little tummy, but he's been on it for 4 days with some kibble too and it's going very well. I've started to decrease the amount of kibble given each day. If there is anyone out there feeding this as well I'd love to have your feedback. It seems like I almost have Harley up to the amount he would be eating without kibble and he's still hungry (going to the kibble around noon). The bag says 1 scoop per 24 hours for an 11lb dog and Harley is at 4lb, so I really don't know if I should be going higher once I take away the kibble, he's at about 1/2 a scoop per day now, and is still going for the kibble. He is a very active dog, so maybe he'll just need more. Not sure yet. I guess I'll see how it goes over the coming weeks.

| Raw diet/ freeze dried??? So I am having the same issues you are having. My little one is about 5 months old and really picky about what she eats. I have probably tried 20 or so different kinds of food one of them being Royal Canin. She didn't care for it. Right now she is eating Natures Variety canned and kibble. Someone just gave me some samples of the raw cubes of Natures Variety. I gave Lexi half of one cube and some kibble. It was like she hadn't eaten this week! She loved it. So.... I am not sure about it yet. She seemed to really like it a bunch, but I also get a bit freaked out by the raw meat. Help all you experts!!!! |

| Lilo and Leo are both on this food! Leo has an extreme poultry allergy so we rotate between this and stella and chewys. we've had amazing results. it actually has a high Fat content so you have to be a little bit careful with this particular brand. i prefer ziwi peak or stella and chewys but Leo seems to have responded the best to K9 Naturals. if you do a google search with the words dog food advisor you can get another opinion and decide for yourself. |

| I LOVE the raw dehydrated food option! We used to feed Xavier Nature's Variety raw medallions, and after going vegetarian I just couldn't stomach them anymore. It wasn't an issue until hubby deployed...then I knew we had to find a different option! (Sounds horrible and selfish, I know. But I literally almost vomitted anytime I handled the medallions.) Anyway, I was ecstatic when our local pet food store starting carrying K9 Natural! Xavier actually put on a little weight with it after a few weeks, and was healthier then ever. Unfortunately, the store ran out of the lamb version so we had to find an alternative. (Poultry is a HUGE no-no for X and we try to avoid beef usually.) We now use Addiction's raw dehydrated food (and have excellent results with it) and LOVE all the poultry-free varieties they offer. Right now he's eating the "New Zealand Forest Delicacies" which consists of air-dried wild Brushtail, Vension, and Manukau honey among other things. If K9 Natural for some reason stops working for y'all, I strongly reccomend Addiction! :-)

| So how do you all handle the fact that it is raw? Like when they eat, then chew on toys or balls and then you throw the ball? Or how about when they get close to your face? (Not that they ever do that!!) I am using the Nature's Variety and mine absolutely goes crazy for it. Anyone been feeding raw food for a while??? How about the freeze dried??? I looked on the dog food review site and it says the Nature's Variety is highly recommended, but says something about just occasional use? Right now I am mixing it with canned and kibble of the same brand. I am pretty confused. |
