| Poop Issue Scooter and I are new to the forum and I am learning so much from you guys/gals already. I am having an issue that I need advice on please. I just got Scooter on Saturday evening. His first two poops were of normal consistency. However, ever since then, it has been runny with mucus in it. He is only 9 weeks old and I do know that sometimes, with the small breed dogs, they will get diarrhea sometimes due to the change of surroundings. The poop smells horrible, like medicine. I have not seen any worms in it but I know that doesn't mean a lot either. Should I take him into the vet's office and have him checked or just watch him until his appointment day? Any ideas on what might be causing this problem? |

| hi welcome and congrats on your new baby. yes , in my opinion, a trip to the vet for a wellness exam would be a good idea. it is very stressfull for a tiny yorkie to leave his mom and siblings so it is best not to wait it think. please come back and let us know how he is doing. |

| This can be a sign of Coccidia...not saying it is...but that is a sign..is there blood in it? How often is he doing this? I would definitely make a trip to the vet and have him check his stool...and you are right, pups can have poo issues after changing homes..

| Joel did the exact same thing when I brought him home, his first couple poos were normal and then it tirned to the other kind. And he did have coccidia but its pretty much gone now. |

| Hi and Welcome to YT! Yes, get to the vet ASAP. He'll need a prescription... the sooner the better. In pups that young coccidia can be devastating.
