| I'm a bad mommy (long) I rescued a Golden retriever, Buddy, back in Dec. 2011. He was a mess physically and emotionally. I have been so busy with him I did not see my poor Zoey was losing weight wears coats and sweaters 24/7 since it is cold now. I know after I had her spayed she thinned out a little. Now she weights less than Roxy my tiny girl. Roxy weights between 3.5 and 4 pounds on average. Lucy and Cozy are a little plump. Zoey was at 1 point slightly plump. Roxy weights 4.2 pounds now- She gains in the winter because she doesn't like the cold. Zoey only weighs 3.4 pounds now. I normally have tough time getting weight on Roxy. She is a great eater so i just feed higher calorie but healthy people food. Zoey however is a picky eater. Zoey seems to be a vegan girl. She turns her nose up to ground beef, pork, bacon, etc. She will only eat chicken for a day or so and then turns her nose up to it. She loves sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, peas, mashed potatoes. She will eat veggies over meat anyday. I mix fresh cooked veggies with there kibbles. I have been feeding Zoey twice daily by herself for 2 weeks- No weight gain or loss. On average she eats 1/4 cup of Blue Buffalo Chicken and Rice- not the small or toy breed. I really can't switch to the toy or small breed because the other yorkies are either at a healthy weight or a little plump. Buddy eats Proplan chicken and rice performance she does stick her head in and eat some of his food daily. She is the only 1 who eats his food regularly. She does LOVE the cats food but I don't think it is good for her to have on a regular basis. The vets says she healthy otherwise but should gain 1-1.5 pounds. Nutracal & similar products give her the runs. The same with fatty foods too. I know she will not starve herself to death but would like to put healthy weight on slowly.

I knew Buddy freaks her out a little but he has never been aggressive towards the yorkies. He is very submissive. All the yorkies were raised by 120 pound Golden retriever so she has been around big dogs before. Buddy now weights 80 pounds and is now at his target weight. He gains 30 pound since I got him.

| Has she been checked by a vet to make sure there isnt a medical reason for the weight loss. Two pounds is alot of weight for a healthy yorkie to lose that is not been put on a diet to lose it. Im concerned

She is a picky vegan like girl since she has been spayed. She will eat wet food mixed with her kibble but not he same kind 2 days in a row. She will not eat cottage cheese or yogurt or goats milk. She will only drink fat free milk.

I know this is not normal her eating habits. She will eat her kibble but is a grazer but with 4 other dogs this is difficult to make possible without isolating her. I am feeding her twice daily alone now.

| Well I hope that someone can think of something to help her it definitely doesnt help that some sources of protein give her loose stools. Have you ever tried a different protein source in the food like fish or bison or something like that

She will not eat tarps, sardines, tuna, or salmon which makes no sense to me since cat food smells like fish to me. She has trouble with even lean ground beef (loose poops) will Bison give her problems too?

| Her doggy body requires protein. Maybe you could get meats she likes and mix them with the veggies she enjoys and switch the kind of meat she eats every few days. I would also find a nutritional supplement since she is not eating a sound dog diet. Most dog foods have vitamins and minerals added to them. You may have to feed her in a different room from the rest of the dogs since her eating preferences are not the same as theirs. |

| I have tried everything. She had several accident over the weekend. Vet thinks it is possibly diabetes. Did more blood work, stool, and urine- Results pending. I fear liver shunt. I hope she is okay. ;(

| Sorry to hear things haven't improved with Zoey. I knew something sounded very off about a dog flat out refusing to eat meat and losing weight so rapidly. Sending positive thoughts with the test results |

| Vet says she is in chronic renal failure. So by refusing proteins she was helping herself. The goal is for her to have as much quality of life as possible because it is incurable.
