| What is considered too much Fat I am looking for a new food as I like to switch Buster's food occassionally. I have been feeding Orijen Regional Red, Honest Kitchen Verve and an trying the Arcana Grasslands but he is not that interested in it. I am currently feeding him the Ziwipeak Daily Dog Cusine because I like the idea of air dried raw. The fat content does concern me because it is 26%. What are considered normal ranges for fat content especially where small breeds are concerned. Venison - ‘Daily-Dog' Cuisine 5kg/11lb - 1kg/2.2lb INGREDIENTS: Venison - Meat (min. 65%), Liver, Tripe, Heart and Kidney (min. 19.5%), Chicory Inulin, Green-lipped Mussel (min. 4%), Fish Oil, Lecithin, Kelp, Vitamins and Minerals, Parsley, Naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols, additives: Vit. D3 592 IU/kg, Vit. E 7.4mg/kg, Copper (copper proteinate) 9.8mg/kg. Calories 1794 KJ/100g. GUARANTEED ANALYSIS: Protein (min.) 34% Ash (max.) 8% Fat (min.) 26% Fibre (max.) 1.6% Moisture (max.) 15% Calcium 2% Phosphorus P 1.1%

| I had the same question about Stella & Chewy's freeze dried raw. There fat content is 38% which scared me. Then someone with knowledge on YT explained that there is a formula that reduces the fat content from freeze dried raw. I feed Zoey S&C and she loves it. So far not problems. I much prefer the dried raw to the cold wet raw. I had feeding her cold food.

| It is 30 percent fat dry matter and 40 percent protein. It has to be converted to dry matter for accurate percentages. This mathematically removes moisture which isn't a nutrient. Since the protein converts to 40 percent and the fat converts to 30 percent and the ash/calcium/fiber combined are less than 5 percent, that would mean the carbs make up about 25 percent which would give us the total of 100 percent. To your question I'd say everybody has their own opinions. Mine is this food is not suitable for yorkies.

The fat content probably won't hurt more dogs. But if your dog is predisposed to pancreas issues (and yorkies as a breed are) then you might find out the scary way that that's the case.
