| Rec for BEST (ultra premium) dry food needed :) I'm in need of the best dry food - ultra premium quality - for Choco. He has been eating Orijen Red, and some members on YT warned that Orijen contains too much protein and may be too rich for inactive Yorkies. Since it has been too cold in Boston, Choco mostly runs around the house and plays hard for about 2-3 hours per day. For the rest of the day, he prefers to sit on my laps or sleep in his bed. His skin is rather dry and hair is a bit dull. So I'm determined to find him the best food to keep him healthy, as his primary diet is dry food. Some have recommended Kiwipeak, but also warned that it contains too much fat for indoor dogs. I am planning on free-feeding him, and considering that he is not a super active puppy, could you please recommend the ultra premium quality dry food that is not too rich/fatty? (preferably small bites so that I can use them as training treats as well) I am not so much concerned about the price/store locations, as long as I can find them online. Thank you! | Acana is made by the same company (Champion) and it's a little bit lower in protein. We rotate between it and Orijen when we are feeding kibble.

| To find the best dog food has been a challenge for me. And keep in mind that each dog like different things. I fed Rosie Instinct for a while but her IBS prevented us from continuing it. I have tried many different ones with Mikki. The only one I have had luck with is Taste of the Wild (but only the one with Bison and Venison). I have always heard good things about Blue Buffalo too. You can also get information from sites such as this one. Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble Good luck with your search!

| I really like Acana - like said above, same company as Orijen, just a bit lower in protein. They also have three new formulas coming out even lower in protein than Acana. I also really really like Fromm and Now! and Go!

| I have always been a huge fan of Blue Buffalo. I use their Wilderness formulas but they are a high protein food so you probably wouldn't want to go that route. They have many other formulas to choose from though. Sometimes Blue can be too rich for some dogs, just depends on your dog. Taste of the Wild is a popular food as well. I fed it to Sasha at one time and had no issues with it. Plus, the price of the food is wonderful for the type of quality it is. Good luck with your search! |

| It is SO hard to decide!! I am going through this right now as well. Lexie has been on Merricks since she was a baby. Recently with some of her health issues (seizures) I am re-thinking her food (she wasn't crazy about it anyways There is so much information and so many choices. I don't mind paying for a GREAT quality food. I just want one that is free from recalls (becoming more and more of an issue) that she will actually eat and like, and that I am able to get somewhat easily. We are currently trialing Blue Buffalo. She does seem to like it. I may try TOTW as well.... hmmm... choices, choices..

Even a lower protein and lower fat food wouldnt be good if he eats too much. Unless he isnt a big eater, i would avoid free feeding. Many have done really well on orijen. Just curious mainly if he was having problems on it? Or if your just going off of the fact that others recommended not feeding it. You may have already done this, but there is alot of awesome info available on orijens website that may help you. But unless he is having diarrhea or other stomach troubles, i would personally stick with the orijen since he is already used to it, and try the fish one which would prob really help his skin. I have seen this one do wonders for my sisters dog with dry skin. But what one dog does awesome on, others do not, so each dog is different. But there are alot of small dogs who do awesome on this food. | |

| Currently feeding by girls Blue Buffalo but I can't keep them out of Buddy's Proplan. They used to be on it. I'm going to switch them back for simplicity.

| We are doing TOTW right now. Tonight I bought the lamb flavor (Sierra Mountain.) We were doing the pacific stream, but they did not like it very much, and I just couldn't take the fish breathe anymore! Ewwww! I'm really hoping they like the lamb more! It seems like a great food at a great price too!
