| Feeding a young puppy??? Help BJ is now over 10 weeks old so I am trying to get her on dry dog food. Wet food has about 80 percent water. I have been adding dry kibble to her wet food. She eats her wet food she was weaned on and then plays with the kibble. Throws them up in the air and arouond and then eats them. Some have told me to leave the dry food out for her and others say feed them and then take it up. Anyone more experienced with this have any suggestions? My baby who passed away always ate wet dog food but it is not good for their teeth since it would have been easier to get in Fort Knox than her little mouth. This is why I am trying to get BJ on dry dog food. The breeder sent me home with Purina Puppy Food, different colors and the Vet gave me a kit from Iams. Any opinions on this? Help appreciated |

| I would continue what your doing because it sounds like it is working but if you really want to stop feeding the wet food I would slowly add less can food each day. No mater what food you feed they still need to have there teeth brushed and although she has puppy teeth now its best to get them used to getting there teeth brushed when they are puppies. I personally leave food down all the time for Callie and recommend it with little puppies. I personally don't like the two foods you listed but I wouldn't switch her now and if you decided to make sure you do it slowly.

| Thank You All Thank you all for the feedback on feeding BJ. When we got her she was already snacking on dried dog food. I mix it with the wet but she would rather eat them separately for now. She is so cute to watch chomping on those pieces of dog food with her little teeth. She usually breaks it into and then eats them that way. I can vouch her little teeth are sharp. Love her! Oh I will check with the Vet about another dry dog food. I just don't want to upset her system while she is so young and eating well. |
