| Hi and Welcome to YT! Yes moody and headstrong, sometimes lethargic.... they can come in heat generally between 6 and 12 months, some sooner, some later. Keep an eye on her so no roving males get to her....

| No to spaying her . I spayed her sister and the recovery process became a nightmare ! My 200 dollar spayed turned into countless return visits to the vet many stitches. And a lot of grief she also has a huge scar ! I had to pay so much in additional costs to get twiggy back to normal! Truffles has a huge yard with a fence and we don't plan to take her out of the house when her heat starts .

| Then you should find a better vet and have her spayed. It's the responsible thing to do.

| Our Vet does not charge anything extra for return visits any anything involving a spay! I might think about finding someone different too!

I think keeping my girls happy and healthy in our fenced in back yard is pretty responsible. I don't feel the need to put her through the surgery when it is not life or death . Surgery is a big risk no matter what surgery . She's not running the town she's in my house or playing in the backyard.

It might just be life or death, if you don't spay her you can run into all types of issues- Spaying is the removal of the ovaries and uterus. Without these organs, ovarian cysts, uterine infections and cancer of the reproductive tract are no longer a concern. Studies have shown that dogs spayed before puberty have a significantly lower chance of developing breast cancer than unspayed dogs or dogs spayed later in life. Why are you being so naive?

But NOT spaying is NOT RESPONSIBLE!!!! I think if you read up more on it, its way less risk to spay than it is not to!!! Very few dogs have complications during spay. And who cares if they have a scar???? THey CAN DIE from not being spayed. Pyometra is very common in intact females, and it can kill!! Plus your poor little dog spending its whole life going in and out of heat, for no reason, when it can be stopped, i dont understand why there is not already enough reasons to just get her spayed!! | |
