| Poop Eater My yorkie timmy is a poop eater. Most of the time he doesnt eat his OWN poop, but the poop of our Pomeranian. He never did this when i first got him and the pom was on Eukanuba at the time. Now they are both on Natural Life and he eats her poop all the time. He has strictures in his esophagus and has to have wet food, and the pom is on dry. I dont know if his poo eating is related to his strictures (which i believe have gotten a bit worse over the last year or so while trying to diagnose it.) Or if it just has something to do with the limited ingredient food they are on. Is it SHE (pom) thats missing something in her diet or is it Timmy the poop eater? lol Also i want to try switching them back to a food with ingredients (highly rated) now that we know timmy has a stricture and his problems are not allergy related. Any suggestions for DECENT priced food at petsmart thats at LEAST 4 stars or higher rating?

| I've seen both of mine, the Border Collie and Reesie the Yorkie, eat cat poop. The vet told me they seem to know when they might be missing something in their diet and a lot of dogs will eat cat poop. At one point, Reesie was so full of cat litter from eating that stuff that she had to spend a couple days in the vet hospital. As far as dogs eating another dog's poop, the same reasons seemed to apply. Vitamin deficiency, or the 'meal' contributor has a medical problem and isn't completely digesting his food. Sometimes they just like the taste!! |

| Ok everyone and anyone. What's up with this poop eating deal. Is this a breed thing? I don't have a yorkie yet as some of you may know. I have a bichon and I never experienced this. Is there something missing in their diet to cause this. What can be done about it? You guys are scaring me about the poop eating. I have seen dogs sniff at dead stuff and gross junk but never poop eating. |

It has more ingredients in it, so im helping it makes him feel fuller. HE has strictures in his esophagus, which is a narrowing that makes it impossible for hard food to go down. HE is on wet food bc of that, and strictures sometimes cause dogs to feel not full bc it takes so long for the food to reach the stomach...BUT hes had the strictures since we got him and he didnt eat poop before, so im hoping the food change will help.

I dont think its a breed thing to yorkies. Ive done research and its common for ALL dogs. There are several causes of it, but one is that they just like the taste, which is gross. Sometimes its a dominance thing where the submissive dog eats the poo of the dominant one also. Again, gross. BUT it is an ALL dogs problem and it just depends on the dog you get. It is NOT specific to yorkies to my knowledge and i have read up about it quite a bit.

| I was transitioning my bichon from innova to halo but I am putting her back on innova. Innova is a good food inspite of P&G issue. |

| funny twist on poop eating We're still dealing with Gracie eating her poop - not as much as she used to but it's still an issue. So, I usually catch her but not before she's gotten some of it in her mouth. When I do, I wash her mouth out and brush (or wipe) her teeth with her poultry toothpaste. She loves the toothpaste (not so much the brushing) and I started to wonder if she thinks the toothpaste is a reward!! I certainly don't want to reinforce the poop eating behavior with positive reinforcement (yummy toothpaste) but I don't want poopy puppy kisses either. What a dilemma |

| ya timmy only eats my pomeranians poop! he doesnt eat his own that i know of at all. my biggest problem is that he already has gum disease and strictures in his throat so he has to eat wet food or he throws up..imagine anything more disgusting than cleaning up puke with POOP in it!??? its beyond nasty. and i dont kno what to do cuz this new food has way more ingredients than his old one, but he still doesnt seem to stop. and i cant just clean it up, bc he gets it RIGHT after she goes in one spot and shes usually still out there. I am gonna try lettin him out at night before she goes out bc she only poops once a day at night. maybe he will forget about it by morning.. but i still feel like his diet is missing something if he does this..and that makes me sad. poor thing already has a bunch of health problems

| My little girl Kinder was a poop eater so I gave her a little crushed pineapple twice a day. I do not know what the pineapple does but it stopped her from eating poop. It took about six months but it worked and no more poop eater. She also loved the pineapple. Also I feed Fromms Whitefish and Potaoe dogfood. It is made in Wisconsin and I feel it is a good food. I used Innova but she could not eat anything with chicken in it. There are so many good brands of food out there it can drive you crazy trying to decide which one. Hope this helps and good luck with your little baby. Also there are others on Yt that are such a great help. Susan |

I read online that giving them mashed green beans with their food can help make them feel full. most ppl use it for weight loss, but i am just gonna add it to his reg food since he doesnt need to lose weight, he just needs to feel fuller. im hoping that helps. i HATE food shopping cuz everyone has a diff opinion. I think i have to switch him again tho bc i think he has a mild allergy to chicken and i dont think innova has a non chicken version..im gonna have to look again. Im going to take them out separately at night since thats the only time my pom poops and maybe that and the green bean thing will solve this problem a bit...HIGH HOPES we'll see
