| Chloe's teeth are wearing down to the gums, she's only 6 months!! HELP! Chloe is 6 months old and i noticed when i brushed her teeth that the teeth in the very front, couple on top and bottom both are almost wore down to the gum!!! I'm amazed, upset, and worried!!! She eats dry food, plays with a twisted knot rope, and chews on bully sticks, but other than this......nothing that would cause such wear of the teeth at such an early age. If you have experienced this....PLEASE help......I'm terrified! |

YT 1000 Club Member | Oh dear when was her last vet checkup? Did he/she notice anything unusual at that time? Too err on the side of caution I would take Chloe to the vet and I hope it's nothing serious.

| They are baby teeth.....she had her last checkup a month ago...teeth were perfect then...I just wonder if they have fallen out and this is the new ones coming in. The one tooth looks as if it's slightly chipped though. I'm tellin you I watch her like a hawk, so I know it can't be an injury, it has to be from her toys if anything has caused this.... It makes me sick because I read so many posts about Yorkie's having bad teeth as they get older. All her other teeth look good, just 2 or 3 in the very front on top and bottom. She has beautiful white straight teeth....and now this..... |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Without seeing them my guess would these are either baby teeth that are being worn away in preparation for the adult teeth...or, the adult teeth just starting to come in. You may want to just call your vet and ask though. My foster boy Jack, has 2 sets of front lower teeth now. He gets neutered next week and will have the extras removed. All of his other baby teeth came out on their own, I actually found several of them....and they were kind of worn down looking. That's what made me think Chloe's are baby teeth?

| yes, I know for sure they're baby teeth. I just didn't know if this is normal for them to wear away before adult teeth come in, etc. Honestly I was so upset when I noticed it. This is my first yorkie and with hearing all the stories about teeth, I was beyond concerned. I called the vet but they haven't returned my call just yet. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I wouldn't worry, most likely it's just the baby teeth being worn down, getting ready for those adult teeth to pop in. Jack's teeth that I found were worn down looking, at first I didn't even recognize them as teeth they were so odd looking. If you're diligent about brushing, and get her teeth checked by her vet with annual check-ups, chances are all of her teeth will be with her until she is an old girl.

| Well the vet visit went pretty well. I decided to use a new vet that just came to town, they have a state of the art clinic, boarding facility and grooming. I'm so glad I did! First of all, the teeth Chloe is losing is normal...it's actually teeth that were lost and now new ones coming in. Second thing I consulted about was spay since she's 6 months old....The vet said there is NO WAY she's 6 months old!! LOL.....I said...ummmm.....well.....I was told she was 12 weeks when I picked her up..... He says because of her teeth....the front ones just now falling out...that's something that happens at 4 months...and the 4 side ones come out at 6 months....based on that....he rules out that she's 6 months......???? So aggravated with all the lies I got in the first place from this breeder anyway, this is just icing on the cake. Thank God Chloe has been nothing but healthy this far! We made an appointment to have her spayed Dec 2, he said she'll do well by then. I got to tour the whole facility and they showed me the new laser surgery that they do to spay and how there's very little bleeding and down time. I'm really glad I went there....but most of all happy she doesn't have teeth issues at this time! Thanks to all who helped me!! Everyone here is nothing but a loving and caring bunch of people!!!! |

| The only thing I can add is Kiwi lost all of his baby teeth around 6 months, he didn't lose anything at 4 months. So I don't know know if this helps or not! I'm glad you found your answers tho! Good luck with your new vet

| Thanks Amy! I went back on the calendar at the day I brought Chloe home. I was told she was 12 weeks....and if the vet is right and she's 4 months instead of 6, then she would have only been 4 weeks old which is impossible!! I would have noticed how young she was and her inability to eat. Clearly, he's wrong! If she's off in age, it's not by much. Supposedly she was born May 5th |

| The laser spay is wonderful. My Westie had it done and the "cut" was so tiny and she was herself almost immediately after coming home. |

Thanks alot for that comment, I feel like this is a better choice, less invasive, and little down time for my baby. Not to mention not very expensive either! | |

| Soph barely lost any teeth and ended up getting the rest pulled I think at 6 months. Lemon lost some but not all teeth starting at 8 months. I don't think you can judge the age of a small dog on their teeth alone. Yes, I agree with laser spay! However, the vets here only do the external stuff with the laser. Either way the extra $ was worth it because she didn't even notice the incision! |
