| Anyone feeding ACANA Is anyone feeding Acana Pacifica? I'm thinking of trying it with Zhoie, but I'm not sure about the protein which is 32%. I'm not sure what using higher protein would do, but I recall it's not good to feed to these little one. Can anyone enlighten me

| Protein percentages are a matter of great debate. Some sources say that as long as a dog is healthy and doesn't have any liver or kidney issues, the sky is the limit. Other sources recommend not exceeding a certain amount. Why do you want to switch brands? What food are you currently feeding?

| I feed Acana Grasslands. The boys love it and have never had a problem. I do rotate every so often, but this is what they have most of the time. There is alot of debate over higher protein foods, but this is one of the lower protein foods in our rotation. |

| I feed ACANA. Riley Loves it....and I Love it, for him! I have fed all of them... Right now I am feeding ACANA/Ranchlands. If you Google Orijen White Paper starting on Page 26, they talk about PROTEIN. I tried to upload it, here, but it wouldn't let me. It is in a pdf format. Here is something from the Champion/Orijen website about protein: Orijen Pet Foods: About ORIJEN: Last edited by RileyDC; 10-01-2011 at 06:39 PM. |

| I feed Pnut acana, have now for about a year 1/2.. he loves it, I love it for him! I switch between Pacifica and Ranchlands. I like it bc it works well for him, that's all it comes down to: find a food that works well with ur baby and leave it!

She's been on Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. Fish flavors is about all she likes, except I do mix some canned chicken Instinct with it. Been eating it for a long time, but I can't seem to get he stools so there not just a few little hard pebbles. She doesn't eat anything else. I can get her to take a couple bits of apple or peaches. I bought a can of Weruva chicken flavor with pumkin at the specialty store yesterday and she went nuts over it. Had a really nice bm this morning, thinking the pumkin may help. I tried getting her to eat pumkin, but it's a no go on that too. Just thinking of putting her on something a little better and switching the flavors.

| I love Acana -- think it's a really wonderful food! I always had good luck with it, and 32% protein is not really ALL that high.... and the protein is coming from good sources.

| I think I may start mixing some in with her TOTW and she how she does. I've try the other flavors of TOTW and she won't have anything to do with them. Wish us luck

So funny how they can be so choosy Jackson won't touch most things WITH fish in them. Any fish-based foods, you can forget it.

| Why Acana would be my question? There was a thread here not long ago about some Champion issues. I wouldn't say their protein sources any healthier/better than other companies. It comes from the waste of a fishing company. Would otherwise be sent to rendering to be disposed of. So all I am saying is if you want to feed it because they present their meat source as something great, then there would be no reason to. As Maximo said, protein % is a matter of great debate. Have you talked to your vet about it? It's personal preference. We don't feed high protein foods here because medically it doesn't make sense to me.
