| Meat alternatives instead of chicken? I gave up grains for Uni's diet to see if she would stop scratching. It seemed to work for a few weeks, but now it's back again. I thought it was the grains but no that would have been too easy huh. I am not aware of anyone sneaking her any carbs or treats with grains. So maybe it is the chicken? What should I try next? She likes fish but it's kind of a hassle to prep and bf hates the smell. She cannot eat lamb, that was what triggered her pancreatitis. What now?

| Jada has severe allergies to chicken. She eats Venison as her protein and does great on it. LMAO I love your avatar

| Teddy had that scratching issue too...I started to give him the natural balance limited diet (so most grains are removed) fish and sweet potato formula and he is no longer itching. I've suspected a chicken allergy for a while though. I'm sorry...I'm probably not much help since you clearly cook and don't want to feed fish..

| I guess you could go hunt down some seriously, I use Natural balance Sweet Potato and Venison Limited Ingredient Diet. It is the only food after trying about 4 or 5 in the last 2 years that Jada is thriving on and she doesn't itch and has good poops. Lisa says there isn't a cut of beef that compares

| Turkey breast? Chicken and beef are among the most common food allergens. Be very careful with any type of meat with fat marbled in it (beef, pork, lamb, probably venison, etc.). If you try beef, make sure it is very high quality and extremely lean.

| I really found out by accident when she had runny poos last summer. I gave her chicken and rice and she started scratching horribly. Dug half the hair off her head. I took her in and she had to have a shot and was put on hydroxyzine and changed her kibble to Natural Balance LID,She had been good for over a year and I accidentally gave her one of Bogie's treats that have chicken liver in them...same scenario back to the vet for shots and more hydroxyzine. All from a piece of treat that was the size of my pinky fingernail. She would also have runny poops at least once a month. Since switching to the Natural Balance...no itching and no runny poops for the last 12 months. Fish also causes her to have runny poops.

That's not too bad! Maybe I can mix it with her HK? Do they sell it at Petsmart? We're still boycotting Petco right? LOL

| My brother shot and dressed and butchered the deer. If you send it to a processor they sometimes add beef suet to the venison because it is total lean muscle mass. Not an ounce of fat on it.
