| Perplexed about Color change I have a question, My 2 year old Lily was silver and now she is getting dark areas of hair which are a deep gray. Like charcoal in color. Do Yorkies change colors more than once? I thought I has a silver girl. Thanks |

| Kiko is about a year and a half now and the same thing started happening to her over the summer. I have just resigned myself to not knowing what color she is going to end up until she is three (I read that it could take that long for them to achieve their end color). She started changing colors when she was about 4-5 months. For a while the top of her head was white. It has since turned blonde and is nowing turning tan. Her back went from black to a medium grey/silver fairly quickly and stayed that way until the really dark, almost black, hair started coming in in spots this summer. I know that I didn't really answer your question, but I just wanted you to know that your puppy wasn't the only one this is happening to. |

| Princess is a year & a half and changed from her puppy coat to a tan head & stayed pretty black bodied long ago. Now her back is lightening up & I thought she was going silver/blue but the hairs coming in now are tan.

| On the subject- When are they supposed to stop being black? I thought they changed to dark grey/silver in the saddle area around 6 months but that doesnt seem to be happening.

| BayArea, Kiko's back is mostly a dark gray, but still has spots that are lighter grey/silver, plus the spots that have started growing in really dark (almost black). Her face legs and chest were a very pale blonde, but she has started getting the tan/gold hair. Her chest is still mostly a blonde shade. The back of her head (between and behind her is is almost all gold/tan now and the rest of her face is somewhere between the blonde and the tan/gold. I thought Kiko's back was done changing colors as it had be the same grey/silver color for at least 6 months before the darks spots showed up this summer. I don't care too much about what color she will end up as she is such a sweet, smart and fun dog to be around. Have Lily's face and legs been changing colors too? What color are they now? |

| Ha Ha This is all so interesting. I really thought she was finished. She has the spots like you mentioned and they are dark charcoal gray. Her legs are very light, like a silver blonde color. They don't seem to be changing. Her head is still the same as in the photo. So do all Yorkies turn silver and then change again? Well no... that can't be because my other 2 yr old Lola has never been silver. She has always been dark and is now the same charcoal gray that it appears Lily might change to (they are not related). Lily is going to look completely different if she goes dark. I don’t care if she gets darker but I don’t like the spots on her back. She's not a dalmation for cryin out loud LOL How long do you think the spots last? |

| I haven't got a clue how long it will take for the color to even out. Kiko is the first yorkie I have ever owned or even been around to watch grow and change. I can tell you that they are looking less like spots and are just starting to blend in with the rest of her hair. |
