| Flaxseed oil for LP? Is it good to give a yorkie Flax Seed oil for helping his knee because of Luxating Patella ? He gets so bad in the winter, he's too fat so I have to make him go in the right wheight but its soo hard I have to have him on Royal Canin Obesity Food all the time to keep him in the right weight but if I for example give him Royal Canin Light he gets fat again ! I exercise him everyday, from 30 minutes to 2 hours and I usually have him in a harness and a flexi lead and let him run and run so he gets good exercise I think. In the winter he drags a sled, I have a special harness for him that is made for pulling things, I usually put just a 2 liter coca cola bottle full of water, in the sled and then he drags it, sometimes my sister sits on the sled and I help him pulling, he pulls the half of the wheight and I the half, he's VERY strong and muscled and loves pulling. Also we go bikejoring in the summer (Bikejoring = he pulls me on a bicycle in his sled harness. Well, does flaxseed oil help anything with LP to keep his knee good? Or is anything else I can give him to make his knee better ? I watch out for dressing him well up in cold weather, snow or rain so his knee doesn't get much cold.

| I'd go with glucosamine (Cosequin) if you give anything. He needs to stay lean and jumping has to be restricted. Whatever food accoplishes this is the one that should be used. Obesity can cause major stress on the joints and organs. I'm not sure what is hard about sticking with one food. Sounds pretty easy? Feed the one food and stick with it. Don't let him pick at it all day. Two meals (or if you want to leave it out all day, measure what he can have, put it out in the morning, and don't refill the bowl until the next day).

He is about half a kilo to fat, he's 6,6 kilo's and should be 6 But I'm started to exercise him more, finally so he will probably loose some weight ! I was often changing food cause I didn't like something with the other foods, like with Royal Canin Obesity, he lost weight on it but he pooped like 5-6 times a day ! and so much smell, and farted like there was no tomorrow ! So I changed over to Hills Obesity food, he was good on it until he started pooping like crazy about month after again and his coat was all lifeless and ugly. Right now I just read about the ingredients in Royal Canin and Hill's and I don't want to ever feed him that again ! I have about 1-2 weeks of Hill's food left though I have to finish it, I'm going to buy new dog food tomorrow and use just both in one, mix it together so it will be better He also doesn't want to eat Hill's dog food he hates it, and he's a dog that eats everything. Here are the ingredients of Bosch Light dog food that I'm thinking of changing him over too: Fresh poultry (chicken, turkey, duck), rice, barley, corn, whole wheat flour, wheat, beet fiber (sugar-free), cellulose fibers, hydrolysed meat, fish meal, fresh meat meal, animal fat, oil, beans, dried yeast, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, mussel powder New Zealand green lipped mussel extract (supports the formation and function cartilage) chicoree powder, vitamins and minerals. Is this bad food or what? I can't find anything better most dog foods here have the first 2-3 ingredients just rice, corn and wheat ! so I think this is OK.

| I would give coconut oil! It is the absolute best anti-inflamatory, supports the immune system, and helps with IBD issues! I use CocoTherapy -- USDA Organic and human grade oil (www.cocotherapy.com). Check out thier testimonials page! Crazy story --- I know the benefits are amazing for humans too, so I started taking CocoTherapy coconut oil for myself. I have BAD knees, and after several weeks of taking it, I SWEAR my knees stopped hurting. I know I've heard similar stories like this. (check out the more reviews here: CocoTherapy? - Reviews | Facebook) One of my yorkies had bad patellas and would sometime limp. Since taking coconut oil regulary she totally doesn't limp anymore! |

I would think that is too much for him. If he has a LP I wouldn't want to put that type of pressure on his leg/ knee. Pnut has LP in both knees and the vet told me no jumping or hard activities! A Yorkie isn't a Husky... I would stop those types of activities, you can do other things to make him loose weight.

| Ok thanks When we go bikejoring he does not pull me constantly he just walks infront, I bike myself he just helps, he's not strong enough to be able to pull me. The harness I have for him does not put the weight on his legs, he doesn't get more weight on his legs bikejoring with me then he gets just walking, also I dont bike fast just slow when we bikejore. I'm just walking him these days, nothing else, and sometimes in the evening we go jogging but I jog really slow so he doesn't run. He's on pain relievers right now that he gets twice a day and just gets walking or jogging nothing else, and he's on food now that helps him loose weight (royal canin obesity) , when he's in the right weight he goes to LP surgery on 1 foot.
