YT 2000 Club Member | Tucker is headed to the vets today.. For the past few weeks his itching has increased. Even with him taking zyrtec everyday. The past few days it has gotten worse, he has even broken the skin on his under belly and chest area and has a rash like redness in spots. I will update when we get back, his appt. isnt untill 430.

YT 2000 Club Member | **update** My poor Tucker Man has allergies. Which I kinda already knew but I didnt think he had a bad case. The vet gave him a cortizone (SP?) shot and predisone pills that I need to give to him starting on the 23rd, 1/2 tablet every 2 to 3 days untill the colder weather gets here. Thanks for all the well wishes!

| Aww, I'm sorry. Steroids should work well. It sounds like the vet thinks they are environmental allergies. Steroids can really work well to get him over the worst of it, but you may want to consider giving Atopica and then cutting back on the pred shortly. It is safer for long-term use. You don't want a dog on steroids for 8 months a year if avoidable because in a few years it can cathc up to them. If you have to, you have to, but Atopica might work. Skin allergy testing with allergy shots is also an option.
