| flea and tick preventives Our last Yorkie died at 4 from erlichia, a tick-borne disease. I was using Frontline. A lot of breeders feel that it's too toxic for such small dogs...but what's an effective organic preventive??? We have a 3 mo old puppy now, and I'm petrified to put anything on her that is not organic. Pls let me know what your thoughts are.... |

| So sorry about your loss. I believe I have read others say something about using peppermint oil. I am not sure about other ways to prevent ticks. I have always used Advantix. I don't like using it either but I can't have my Rosie or Mikki having ticks.

| I wrote it down about the peppermint oil that was posted the other nite. It was a cup of water, 15 to 20 drops of peppermint oil. Use every 2 days or so and keep away from eyes. Hope this helps. I'm scared of everything too. I gave mine the new pill (comfortus) last time and gave Dudley (4lbs.) a half a pill to what he was suppose to take and he still threw up. I hate anything with chemicals. |
