| Baby Teeth Advice Hello YT, Secret is 5 months old and is scheduled to be Neuter this Wednesday. Well my problem is last friday i realized that he has two adult teeth that are coming in behind his baby teeth. I don't know if i should have the baby teeth removed while he is being neuter. I called the vet and they are saying $65 a tooth to remove! The baby teeth are lose and i'm not sure if i should wait it out and see if they will fall out by them self or have the vet do it. To be honest $65 is really high price for teeth pulling even more when i have read on YT that some people have only paid $10. I'm really torn i don't want my baby walking around with a mess up grill but i don't want to spend $130 that i may not need to.

| $65 per tooth is a really high price to pay, especially if you live in Georgia. I live in TN and my vet pulls baby teeth for free if it is during a neuter/spay. But since my puppy's adult teeth didn't come in until later his were pulled separately, and she charged about $80 to pull 4 teeth. Since the adult teeth don't finish coming in for another month or 2, if I had to do it over again I would wait until he was 6-7 months old, if the "male behavior" wasn't becoming a problem, and combine the teeth pulling and neuter. And ask around for a different vet. That one sounds very overpriced for the southeast, which generally seems to have lower prices for everything compared to other parts of the country. |

| If the teeth are loose than they will more than likely eventually fall out. Can you maybe wait just one more month until he is 6-months old for his neuter? I got Riley neutered at 6 months and then ended up having to take him back 3 months later because his 2 upper canines didn't fall out... They weren't loose whatsoever and there was No Way they were coming out on their own. Well.... they charged me another almost $400 for their removal and Riley had to go under, again. I was a bit upset, to say the least. I had just assumed they would pull any baby teeth at the time of neuter if there were any still there. That is what they did with my prior dog when I had him neutered at 6-months. I didn't even think to ask about it or mention doing it for Riley..... and I didn't even know he was still retaining two baby teeth until I dropped him off for a quick nail trim a couple months later. They brought it to my attention at that time. When I went to drop him off for his teeth, appt. I let it be known to the tech that I wasn't happy.....I didn't even really care about the money part of it........ I was mainly upset because I didn't want Riley to have to go under "again".... and be in any discomfort. The tech confirmed that they usually pull any baby teeth that are left at the time of neuter and that this was an unusual circumstance. All in all he came through it fine. Good Luck!! |
