| Baby teeth still in at 7mths old Hi all, Rudy will be 7mths on 7/25 and still has his baby teeth 4 of them i believe. The vet told me they should fall out by one year old but if not he will need them removed. Do you guys see that these fall out on their own? I hope so I purposely didnt go to my vet to get him neutered b/c of cost issues right now and went to a low cost neuter clinic which did a great job with him, but if I would have gone to my vet they would have taken out his teeth while under anesthesia. I just didnt have the 500 bucks at that time to do this. I am hoping they fall out soon on their own, but I am noticing for a pup his breathe is starting to smell bad. He is too young for this I have a 14 yr old yorky so I know how bad their teeth can be and breathe as well. Any thoughts or suggestions thanks Denise |

| It is very common for them to have to get the baby teeth pulled. I got my babies spayed/neutered at 1 years old so they can also pull their baby teeth out. I was going to suggest that, but you have already got your baby spayed. If they don't fall out, you will have to get them pulled. Yes, it's expensive, but it will be MORE expensive in the future if you leave it. Also, you should be brushing her teeth to keep her teeth in good shape and that should rid the bad breath. Our babies get their teeth brushed every night and get a chew and a star every other day along with brushing. It has saved us from having to bring them in to get dental cleaning (quite expensive as well). I've heard people bringing them in every 6 months to a year, but ours is turning 2 years and they are fine (no bad breath as well). I guess, what you put in is what you get. Good luck!

| They could still fall out on their own at this point cause is he only 7 mos old...but I wouldn't wait until he is a year old to have them removed if they don't fall out...waitting that long could damage the adult teeth...IMO if they haven't fallin out by 9 mos old get them removed, don't wait. I had my Harley neutered at 7 mos old....it only cost me 200.00 and that was for everything...neuter, 4 baby teeth removed and microchipped...500.00 bucks is insane

| Wow that is a great price, I guess Jersey prices are higher- thats what it goes for around here! So I will definitely get them removed by 9mths if not fallen out. Thanks |

| i wouldn't worry about it AT ALL! i understand in the US the puppies get their baby teeth pulled while being under for spaying is the norm. however, here in the UK we tend to leave them till they fall out by themselves. my puppy is 8.5 months now and his final baby tooth just fell out! he's been chewing a lot on raw hide chews and its not bothered him at all. personally, i think its best to leave them to fall out on their own. ^_^ |

| Jovi will be 6 months on July 31 - she still has some baby teeth - she has already been spayed (1 month ago) she gets her teeth brushed every day but her breath still smells ( I think from the bully sticks). One vet said get them pulled the other said wait a couple more months??? Spaying, cone and Microchip cost $475.02 from our vet. Teeth pull is $45.00 a tooth - hope they all fall out naturally! |

Yorkie Talker | smelly teeth I just had my 7 month old boy at the week a few weeks ago because he had smelly breath, i though for sure he had a rotten tooth or something. But it was just that some food got under one of his very loose baby teeth. The vet was able to pull out 4 of his back teeth that were just hanging there. No infections or rotten teeth! Thank God! i waiting to get him neutered till closer to his birthday, so he can have the rest of his teeth pulled. |

| I didn't ever wait. All my yorkies over the years (5) had problem with the baby teeth staying in. As the adult teeth come in and the baby teeth are still in thee there is a high risk of the adult teeth being very crooked and comprimised. I got mine in early and had them taken out. Yorkies have a hard time with their teeth throughout their lives. To have something go wrong in their eirly months that can cause even more problems as they get older was not something I didn't want them to go through or myself to deal with. Unfortunately, vets are very expensive and that is part of what you have to think about when you get a pooch. These little yorkies cost a lot over the years and end up being quite expensive in the long run. Love them so much though that it is worth it! Hoping the best for you and your little Yorkie. |

| Zhoie was 6.5 months and vet realized we needed to spay now, because she had sever baby teeth in and it started effecting her chewing, didn't want to eat. When he got her under, he said he was shocked, they were so tiny and then ended up being 13 still in her mouth He said the pressure must have been awful. She was spayed, 13 teeth removed and repaired her umb hernia for $337.00. I had her teeth cleaned at 2yrs and he found 2 more that were too tiny and he missed.

| darn baby teeth Ours is an odd situation with baby teeth. At seven months we took Gabby in to get spay and her baby teeth removed. Her canines were coming in next to baby canines. The vet charged us for a mouth xray so her could see what exactly was going on and assured us he had removed all babyteeth during the spay. Because her blood was a little off pre-op we had a Bile Acid Test run and found out we had a liver shunt baby. Off we go to a specialist to have the shunt repaired, hoping that will be the last procedure our poor little girl needs to go thru....We are a month out from surgery now and more adult teeth have errupted. And you guessed it, there are baby teeth left. Moral of the story, be careful... in vet choice and with the teeth. If our vet would have informed us of the odd blood work we would have opted out of the spay in the first place until the Bile Acids were checked. We are wiggling and watching and hoping the little trouble makers fall out. There is no way we are putting her thru any more for as long as we can. Good luck! |
